The morning was opening slowly, dingy clouds obscuring most of the sunlight and letting what did filter through dye the world in bleak colours. At least all was quiet; Idina hadn't received notices from any friends needing help yet. Perhaps it was too early in the morning to be fulfilling contracts or picking fights, which she could easily live with.
For the time being, she was amusing herself by jumping between electronic devices. Street lamps flickered in a row as she passed through them before materializing on the top of a building in plain view of an electronic billboard. The giant sign showed a picture of the arguably shifty president of Cosmic Imp Inc., in all his, ah, glory. How tempting it was to deface it somehow...

Cyndra clasped her hands and stretched her arms out. She was pleased with her progress. The thing… hmm, she'd have to come up with something better to call it… the thing for Jump was at a point where trials would be worthwhile.
Pushing her goggles up to her hairline where they acted as a hairband, she murmured, "I wonder what time it is...." Or rather, if it was a reasonable time to call Jump over. The craftswoman could have used one of half a dozen devices to check the hour, but instead she took the opportunity to stand and stretch her legs, walking over to a small window and lifting the makeshift curtain to peer up at the sky. The sun was struggling to make its presence known through the ever present clouds, its low position telling her that it was a little after dawn. "I worked through the night again... Dammit, I gotta stop that." Cyndra shook her head ruefully, mildly irritated by her bad habit but not too concerned about it. She grabbed her PDA from a pocket in her tool belt and typed up a quick message to her friend, informing the blonde that the first prototype (just for objects mind you, no work with humans or alterations thereupon until they could transport something abiotic safely) was ready for testing.

Just as she was seriously considering jumping into the electronic billboard, Idina noticed a white alert light blink on in her goggles. Quickly checking the message and its source, she grinned broadly to herself. Maker had been making progress!
Now, to figure out how to get to her workshop from where she was... She would need to find a device that could connect to the Internet for the easiest access. The billboard might have that connection, but she figured it was a stretch, so she continued to look around.
After a few minutes, she settled for the streetlamps that lined the road. She took a running start and leapt off the building, clenching her fists as she did so; she translated into code and electrons before she could reach a solid surface. Each streetlamp flickered to life and faded out quickly as she passed through them.

Humming an old tune, Cyndra wandered back to the counter where the device for Jump lay. It was essentially a series of wire laced cords with sensors embedded in straps on all four ends, coming together where they fed into what acted as a small computer. Not too pretty, but aesthetics were completely unnecessary until she had something that worked exactly as desired. And in this case, she wanted to make sure any quirks or surprises were known and understood before Jump took the device out into the field for good.
As she let her gaze shift away from the thing, her eyes fell on one of her other current projects. It was her first time trying to make an automaton, and Cyndra was quite optimistic. Smiling, she reached out and lifted one large paw, working the joints and watching the yet-uncovered mechanisms move in accordance. Noticing a loose wire, she pulled a pair of pliers from her tool belt, then put them back with a sigh. So long as Jump wasn't already busy, her friend ought to arrive soon so she dare not get too involved in anything. Instead, she amused herself by wondering which device Jump would appear out of, or even if she would simply walk through the door this time.

Meeting no interruptions along the way, Jump reached the neighbourhood of the craftswoman and wove her way through the last few streetlamps. Reaching a crossroads as to where to go, she opted to leave the lamps, only to leap into a electrical wire that was held between two poles and stretched over the workshop almost as soon as she'd touched down onto the ground. From there, the girl was able to sail right into the little place through the lights, locating the room Maker was in and tumbling out of a light fixture there. The tails of her coat flared out as she jumped to the ground, making for an impressive - in her opinion - entrance.
Once her form was fully physical again, she pulled her coat collar down and pushed her goggles up so as to free up her face. "Hullo!" she chirped when she saw her friend. "So what've you got for me today?"

A moment later, a form appeared from the ceiling lights to land gracefully on the floor, solidifying as she fell. As the blonde uncovered her face, Cyndra smiled widely.
"Well hello there! Showing off for someone, are we?" She winked at Jump and chuckled. Not giving the other much of a chance to reply, she stood straight and beckoned with her fingers. "C'mere and take a look!" Lifting the device, Cyndra was careful not to bump anything out of alignment, even though she knew she had attached everything quite securely.

Maker had a habit of asking questions that didn't need answering, and at this point, Idina had come to laugh and shrug off these questions. She made sure her hips swayed, however, as she closed the distance between to two of them so she could see this device, sending the rails of her coat swinging rhythmically; why not show off just a little bit more?
The contraption of Cyndra's consisted largely of wires, straps, and sensors. The blonde circled around it and its creator, studying it from all angles. She nearly brought her goggles down before remembering that they wouldn't tell her anything about this device, not like they would tell her that the person she was looking at had a broken leg and AB positive blood with KINTO-DNA2. "Is this the device to transport biotic or abiotic forms through cyberspace?" she clarified.

"I hope it's both," commented the street adept cheekily as he removed himself from the dank shadows. He'd been watching the two of them for some time, mainly because he'd finished his contract of stopping a wife from leaving a man. If only that contract hadn't ended with him having to pull the gun on the man: one, it was a waste of a good bullet, two, he didn't want to kill someone just for being in love, and three, he was about to violently rape her, and not only was the wrong, it was also public.
He'd been walking back to his apartment in the Monkhood, under the watchful eye of 'Monk', when he'd heard Idina's voice. Thinking it was his duty and promise to someone he still held dead, he followed the sound and found her talking with someone who seemed friendly enough. However, as he knew very well, trust was hard to find in this world.
"I'm Clanless," he introduced, sticking his hand out to the woman. "And you are?"

Cyndra drew in a quick breath and spun toward the man's voice. Her hands fell to her toolbelt and her grasping fingers pulled outed a screwdriver and the small tablet that everything that was in the building was wired to (except for her works in progress, including the thing for Jump. Goodness, she really needed to get a better name for it...).
"What-..." she exclaimed, the part of her that was not approaching panic wondering how he got in. Glancing past him, she saw the door to the outside a crack open and remembered leaving it unlocked in preparation for Jump's arrival. She ignored his offered hand, wide eyes taking in his slender body. He didn't immediately appear much of a threat, but one could never be sure.

Idina, meanwhile, though her initial reaction to the new voice was one of surprise, relaxed her posture upon seeing the man and smirked, shaking her head. "You don't need to worry, Maker," she urged when she saw the brunette's posture. Brandishing a screwdriver as a weapon... Admittedly, that was miles better than anything she herself could do, although it didn't look intimidating. "He is a good friend of mine, more like a guardian. He shouldn't hurt you." She hoped that her friend wouldn't link his appearance and the title he'd gained from his many successful hits...
"And you," she went on, turning on her heels to face Clanless, "need to learn the fine art of subtlety." She leaned her weight on one leg and tapped the ground with the other foot - perhaps Cyndra would notice that the toes of her boots matched her uncle's. "How long have you been here?"

The craftswoman relaxed, her shoulders falling as she exhaled. Jump's announcement of her connection to the man - Clanless he called himself - settled the brunette's nerves and she slowly put her screwdriver and tablet back in their pockets, but one part of her mind told her to be wary yet. The small blonde's gentle rebuke brought the hint of a smile to Cyndra's face, one corner of her mouth lifting slightly. She focused for an instant on the tapping of Jump's foot on the floor, an unusual sound in her workshop made by the small blonde's unusual boots. A moment later, she noticed Clanless shifting his weight a little, and her gaze was brought down to his feet where - oh hey, those boots are like Jump's! Cyndra's eyebrows rose, and she looked to Jump.

"A friend, indeed," the street adept smiled as he withdrew his hand from the hesitant girl. He eye the screwdriver in her hand, sneering at it almost condescendingly. "As a contract merc, I can honestly say you'll need to find yourself some better equipment."
With that, he removed first his katana, a surprisingly quick blade despite its startling length. He swung it lightly behind his back a few times, spinning it in circles, before it began to hum with blue red energy like a flame. As he continued to spin, sparks began soaring away from the sharp edge of his sword, only to dissolve in mid-air, as to not burn anything in the girl's shop. This had always been his preferred weapon, especially since guns were such a hassle to repair and maintain.
Then, he tossed to Jump's friend his Carnage pistol; a little top-heavy, to him, but its killing power, stopping-power, and built-in attachments to his vision modifiers made it a perfect tool for when he needed a ranged attack.
Finally, he removed from his belt a line of grenades, each with a colour code on top. Red usually meant smoke. Sometimes, it meant lots and lots of paint. Yellow was flash-bangs, and blue? Blue was really just for emergencies involving particularly nasty kinetics. Less often, he'd have to use it on Sarea and Idina, but only to get them under the radar when they were acting out. That was hardly ever, but he could recall times when it did happen.
"If this is the type of stuff you're planning on bringing into the digital world with that nifty thing, I'd be glad to purchase. Huh..."Phase Enterprises"...nice ring?" He strolled over to Idina after placing his weapons back where they belonged. "And to you, my little Two-Shoes, subtlety is what's kept me alive for so long."

She cocked an eyebrow at his comment to her, largely because of the nickname he chose to use. "You seem to leave the subtlety on the street," the blonde commented sharply, arms crossed, a smirk punctuating her words.
After the remark, she eyed the weapons that he'd displayed: his entire arsenal, in fact. Powerful and efficient, just as he needed them to be, as well as compact and easy to reach, which was equally a necessity for him.
"This device that Maker has," she explained, "is meant to be used by those who already have the cybernetic abilities that I do. So perhaps you'll finally be able to get off my back about my not carrying a weapon." This remark was once again delivered mockingly, but more lightly than the previous, since she knew that his worry was valid. So now, it ought to be easier to bring weapons - beyond a cyber axe a friend of hers had, but all involved had voted against Idina carrying it - with her through cyberspace. That is, if the test runs were successful.
Remembering the reason she had come to the workshop, she turned to Cyndra. "So, abiotic matter first, correct? What do I need to do?"

Cyndra frowned at Clanless' remark about her equipment. She had altered every tool she used to fit her specific needs, each item having a variety of uses. Her equipment worked perfectly fine for her line of work, creating not fighting. Although it might be a good idea to craft some sort of weapon, in case she ever needed to defend herself...
Though it seemed like Clanless had more than enough weapons for all the people in her workshop, and she watched with concern as he whirled his katana around. If he disturbed even the smallest thing, she'd... Well, she wasn't certain what she'd do. But she would do something.
Once he had replaced his weapons to their resting spots, she breathed a small sigh of relief and closed her eyes briefly. She smiled at the blondes' banter, surprised at how the lightness and comfort lifted her spirits. And then Jump spoke of her device. Yes good, conversation Cyndra knew and was comfortable in.
"Technically, this should work for both abiotic and biotic. But I wanna make sure I understand how your jumps and traveling work for certain before we move to anything living." Cyndra offered Jump a grin, then started explaining how it worked. Or rather, what her friend needed to know about how to use it. "Pretty much you wrap these ends around the object you wanna carry with you. And then you push this button-" the brunette lifted the small computer and pointed out a rectangular button on the side- "and you can go ahead and jump. Oh, first you've got to connect it to you, or your devices, or something. Like setting it to the same channel sort of thing."

Idina listened attentively to Maker's explanation. Not only would this be a device to benefit her, but it was also more of their mutual territory; honing their respective skills without the use of weapons. Somehow she doubted her uncle could wrap his head around that concept, but with a new ability like this at her disposal, perhaps he could let that topic lie. For that, she would be eternally grateful to Cyndra.
"I get what you're saying," she assured the brunette. "Connecting it to myself would probably be the best idea, or maybe even my goggles. So, what all do I need to do to achieve that?"
