"Well... Can I see your goggles for a moment? I need to figure out the... let's call it the frequency they're operating on so I can set this thing to connect and work on the same 'frequency' and then hopefully that should do it..." Cyndra pulled out the same screwdriver and tablet she had out earlier, hopping up onto a nearby stool. With a few taps on the tablet, an already activated light swung down from the ceiling with a mechanical whir and positioned itself directly above her.

The tiny blonde stood transfixed, looking at the light that had just descended from the ceiling while trying to fully understand what she had just been told. "Uhhhhmm..." she managed. She blinked hard, screwing up her eyes for a moment before her face became clear again, as did her mind. Deciding to move for now and decide when a choice had to be made, she brought both hands up and took hold of her goggles, pulling them up off of her head and freeing the step in the back from her short hair.
In truth, she was quite reluctant to hand over the goggles. The initials I.M.D. were engraved into the inside of the strap, at the very back, and though they matched hers, they were not her initials. "Are you certain you can't do whatever needs to be done to me directly?" she checked, still holding the white goggles out in front of her.

Clanless eyed the goggles Idina wore on her head--more specifically, the initials on the side. I.D.M.
These goggles belonged once to the brother of his late husband, Jaden. He'd been very close to the Dovillem family of three: Isador, the eldest son, was a kind man, although he and Faljere didn't quite get to know each other as much as he would have liked to. Jennis was the youngest of them, and her headstrong attitude at first turned the street adept away from her, but when she opened up with her softer side, he began a strong friendship with her. And there was, of course, Jaden. A stern executive of Empire Industries, a soft-spoken romantic who always treated him to affection, fancy dinners, and who completely understood Faljere's asexuality.
This girl was the last remnant of that family, and so he felt so close to her. Still, he wouldn't let that show on his face, so he chuckled. "Still using those old things? Thought you might have gotten an upgrade, or something."

Keeping a neutral expression, she glanced back over her shoulder at the tall man. His expression seemed amused, but she knew better. "Of course," she replied simply. "No need to fix what isn't broken." Not even the strap had ever needed replacing yet: her father had always made his gadgets with the intent of making them last.
Still, maybe Clanless had a point. Maybe they were a little dated. Not to say that she would scrap them - perish the thought! - but maybe she could unhand them for a moment, let her friend do what needed to be done. She trusted her with her life, and she felt as though she could trust her with this as well. After a moment of reflection, she held her goggles out at arm's length for Cyndra to take. "Just be careful," she requested.

Cyndra smiled gently and gave Jump a small nod, recognizing the other's difficult decision, though she was certain she did not know why. "Thank you," she said, carefully lifting the goggles from the blonde's hand. The craftswoman pressed a couple buttons on her tablet, then held it a hand's length above Jump's goggles. The tablet took a quick scan, analyzing the goggles' technology and connections as they pertained to cyber travel. She held them back out to the blonde and took a look at the information the tablet offered her. "Hmm, okay, that seems to make sense," Cyndra murmured to herself. She spun on the stool to face the counter - and the new device for Jump. Humming again, she pulled a cord out from her tool belt and plugged it in to both devices, placing the tablet down on the counter. She tapped away quickly, setting programs and commands for Jump's device to run when the blonde jumped to cyberspace.
"Okay," the brunette said, turning back to face her guest - guests. "This should take about a minute to set properly, then we can give it a go! Well, Jump can give it a go." She flashed the blondes a smile. "Which brings me to this darnded thought that won't leave my head, we need a better name for it than 'thing.' Any ideas?"

The blonde smiled, amused at the thought that the trouble of naming inventions seemed to be a constant among craftspeople. Others she knew carried weapons, and their wielders usually had designated named for them beyond their type, but affectionate names for devices appeared to be trickier. She herself had never been good at naming her items either way, referring to her goggles simply as her "Healer Vision."
"I dunno," she commented with a chuckle, "maybe something like Temp Jumper?" After having said it, she found herself liking her suggestion. "Yeah, actually! Since the effects aren't permanent, right?"

"Temp Jumper..." Cyndra repeated, then she smiled. "I like that! And you are correct." She nodded once, and then a soft chirp sounded. "Oh!" The brunette exclaimed, turning back to the counter. Lifting the tablet, she tapped the screen a couple times then unplugged the cord from both devices. She looked at Jump and said happily, "It's ready!"

Faljere jumped up in joy at the name of the device. "Temp Jumper, yes! I like that, brilliant idea! Clever!" He yanked Maker's hand towards him and began shaking it violently up and down, smiling excitedly. "You know for a fact, my little girl here needed something to keep her safe, and if she can be taking things in and out now...brilliant!"
He began jumping about, being sure not to knock anything in the workshop over. He'd certainly felt the need to protect Idina ever since Isador went missing, but even he knew how limited his abilities to help were, especially with him always getting in trouble and needing her assistance. Now if this device would work, she would be able to protect herself without him having to worry. There was no doubt he'd still watch over her--why on Earth would he not?!--but he would certainly allow her more space.
"My little Two-Shoes," he squeezed her face and hugged her tightly, "you have no idea how happy you've made your uncle!"

There were a couple of things that Idina had wanted to protest - Clanless' very sudden grabbing of Maker's hand, his claim that she "needed" something to protect her, the nickname use - but most of that dissipated by the time he took her into his arms with glee. His emotions had always been contagious when he displayed them, and his hugs felt safe. Both of these made for a very happy Jump.
"Thank you, Maker," she called after a moment or two - whether she was referring to the device she had made or her tolerance to her and her uncle, she left up to the brunette to decide. "So, for testing purposes," she continued, still in a hug, "we should tackle abiotic matter first, right? Well then," - carefully twisting her hand, she removed a flashbang from Clanless' belt, then broke out of the hug and took a few steps towards her friend. "Shall we?"

Cyndra stood very still as Clanless grabbed her hand and proceeded to jump around, surprised and unsure of what to do. She looked to her friend for help, but the tiny blonde was enveloped in Clanless' arms. "Right. Okay," Cyndra muttered, a little shaken by the man's behaviour. And... he called himself Jump's uncle. Well then...
The craftswoman's attention was brought back to Jump as she spoke. Abiotic, yes. When the blonde moved away from Clanless, she held one of the grenade things from his belt. Cyndra's blue eyes widened, and she stepped closer with her hands up. "Nooooo no no. No weapons. We don't know if whatever you bring with you will come apart, or be triggered, or stay attached properly, or...." She shook her head. "Just no."

Her own eyes went wide, the alteration-affected gold in them now likely plainly visible from a decent distance. The possibility of the object she would bring with her becoming damaged had completely slipped her mind. That was why they would test with abiotic matter first, after all! Biting her lip, she took a step back and held the flashbang above her shoulder so Clanless could reclaim it. She didn't want to meet his eyes, not after a careless mistake like that.
"A-alright then!" she stuttered. "Yes, point taken. So, um... Wha'd'you suggest, Maker?"

Exhaling a puff of air with relief as Jump stepped back, Cyndra closed her eyes for just a moment. "Uh, let's use....." Her voice trailed off as she began to think and look around for some sort of harmless object. Her dark blue eyes alighted on a fabric covered box. Small dimensions, only about a foot wide on all sides and open only on the side currently facing the floor, it would be easy to secure withing the straps of the Temp Jumper. Cyndra strode over and lifted it from the floor. "What do you think?" she said, lifting an eyebrow in Jump's direction.

A perfectly generic box. Not something she would expect to find in Maker's workshop, but as far as Idina was concerned, it was lucky that it was there. "Perfect!" she exclaimed, clapping excitedly. "Unless you're keeping spare parts in there or something, I don't see how that could possibly be a hazard to me!" She recomposed herself, placing her hands behind her back with interlocked fingers. "I'll let you set it up, and then I'm more than happy to test!"

Flipping the box over, Cyndra showed the other woman the empty wooden interior. She walked over to the counter where the Temp Jumper was and set the box down.
"Come close enough so you see what I'm doing, a'right?" she suggested to Jump as she separated the straps, laying them flat on the surface. She grabbed the box and centred it over the straps, then one by one pulled them to the top end of the box. Cyndra deftly looped the straps through a square piece of metal (with dull edges of course) that had a wide slit on each side. Her fingers quickly pulled the straps' ends down tight around the box and finally fed them through small ratchets, tightening them quickly then she turned to face the blondes. "Should be good to go now," the craftswoman said with a smile.

"Seems straight-forward enough," Idina commented, mostly to herself. Once everything was secure, she took the box in her hands, then turned and looked between the two other people in the room. "It's actually a a really good thing that you're here, Clanless," she said "This way the test will be as simple as jumping from your PDA to Maker's!" Now speaking to both, she went on: "I figured dealing with technology she's familiar with will help a little, won't it? And besides, this way I'll for-sure be staying within the workshop, so if--" She stopped herself there, wary to bring up once again that the test came with risks. "...So in theory I'll be in and out, quickly and easily! Now, if you two could stand with a few paces between yourselves... Perfect! Ready?"
After adjusting her hood and goggles, the blonde held tight to the box in one hand and took a few steps towards Cyndra. At nearly the same instant that her outstretched hand touched the PDA, her physical form seemed to break up into pixels for a moment, her coding absorbing soundlesy into the device.
Once inside, she did a quick check of everything to make sure it all came with her: her goggles, her clothes, and the box with the Temp Jumper attached were all there and intact. She spun gleefully amid the code that floated inside the niche of the PDA. Then she reminded herself that the test was now only a third of the way complete, and she had more to do. She drifted over to the opposite wall of where she knew the screen would be and felt around for her gateway to greater cyberspace.
