"No." His expression became very serious "Don't let who I am change your opinion on drow. Most are cruel, mean, heartless killars. That town probably did me a service in the end, raising me among men." He had the potential to be like his race and he knew it. Killing came easily to him, no remorse, no regret.
At her words he nodded. "Hm. I left out half the story that day in the tavern. Lin." He didn't think it mattered at the time. Just a long dead friend and a tale from the past. Obviously he was wrong. "I told you I killed those men lit the fire because I was fed up being their servant. That wasn't true."
Looking out into the distance towards the tavern he began to speak. "They hadn't really been training Lin at the time, he wasn't as important as me. But my training started at the crack of dawn and I was expected to be there. I can't remember what held me up but I ran late one morning. I might have had problems with my armor, I'm not sure. So Lin decided to go in my place, distract them so they weren't as angry at me as they were going to be. But when I finally got there I was met with the sight of Lin on the ground, blood pooling around him. They were all standing around him dumbfounded and as soon as I got close they grabbed me and dragged me back to my room, locking me in. Only later did they tell me that they had made Lin take my place in the sparing lesson since I hadn't been there. He was only a kid. He had barely began his training at all."
Fallen shook his head, running a hand through his hair before continuing. "For days they didn't let me out and I stayed locked in that room, screaming at them to tell me if Lin was ok. They got so fed up with me they told me he was dead. It nearly killed me.
"Lin was the only reason I stayed. He was my friend and brother but also one of their greatest weapons against me. They often used him to make sure I obeyed. I would have done anything to keep that stupid kid safe and he didn't make it easy. Lin always gave them a hard time with his bullheadedness and plots of escape. I was constantly reigning him in so he didn't get it trouble.
"So when I thought he was gone there was no reason for me to stay. I pretended I had gotten over it, waited it out, fuming mad and full of vengeance. So when they sent me on a mission I killed all of the masters and set the compound of fire. That's twice I nearly got him killed."
