Snow thick coated the ground, a generous blanket for the earth to sleep this is certain. Ashen thought to herself, keeping her body low and hidden behind undisturbed snow dunes. The wind whipping cruelly at her ears. She was certain if her ears could speak they would scold her for letting them become so bitterly cold. But that wasn't her main concern for the moment. Her family was starving, she wasn't exactly well fed herself. She had many traps in pan'ti and in pan'do which sense the harsh winds had been fruitless. She needed to bring something home. Something for at least the whelps to eat. Trying her best to remain hidden she scanned the land. Empty..barren...blinding where some of the thoughts other then hunger came to mind. A sight sigh passed her frozen, cracked lips. Looking down in defeat as she leaned on the snow. Removing a shimmering blue pendent from its warm den around her neck and clothing, her eyes filling with sorrow. "Oh allynn" she sighed quitely. " how I need you so, how did we get here agian?" Placing the pendent once more with in the warmth of her clothing, her ears twitched as the fur on her tail began to raise. She heard noises, could it be something for her to hunt? Or was she being hunted? It sounded far to big for any sort of small creature. It sounded larger....

Frozen, uncomfortable, and unused to such unforgiving cold, a man trudged through the snow back to his camp. He had been in the forest for hours, his black clothes and intricate armor now wet and frozen along with him. But it had ended with some success, considering the 4 rabbits he carried with him. A gust of wind suddenly hit causing his cowl to, once again, fall back to expose his black skin and white hair to the wind. Irritated and grumbling he didn't even bother fixing it. All day it had been a constant battle to keep it covering his head, but since no one was around to see his face he supposed it didn't matter. He still had the black scarf pulled up to his eyes and covering his pointed ears so at least that brought him some warmth. Damn it, all the work in the world wasn't worth staying in a place like this. Perhaps it was time to put this town behind him and move on to a warmer climate.
Suddenly something caused him to stop dead, his tuned senses picking up on a presence. Swearing under his breath he brought his frozen and leather gloved hand to one of the twin knives sheathed at his back just in case. Blinded by the bright snow that was so drastically in contrast to him, his red eyes were having difficulty seeing any movement. He cursed again, berating himself mentally. For someone who's supposedly a master assassin I can't even pinpoint where the source of an aura? Pathetic. It's a miracle it didn't take me LONGER to finish this hunt. He knew it was the weather....and the daylight...He was completely out of his element and at a major disadvantage but it was still seriously disheartening.
Hurriedly he pulled up his hood, and listened.

With very slow and shallow movements she managed to climb and peered over the hill only daring to expose her location for a moment. A man in black? An assassin she pondered. Eyes still fixed on him. Why has he not thrown his knives yet? Or even seen her, true she was great at hunting, but to not be noticed by one like him...puzzled ashen ducked down slowly and quietly she drew her bow and readied an arrow. One wrong move, and he would have a new hole in his head for the fridged air to go through. But...if she where to fail, to miss, it was true the wind wasn't on her side at all. If she where to miss....what of the sick and the whelps she aided. Who would take care of them?? Allynn was gone reduced to nothing but a body with the lady in white and a shimmering ever glowing pendent around her neck. Matsu was a blacksmith, if it wasn't for ashen's knowledge of medicinal herbs he would have died of sickness Long ago and the others...she was the only one capable of give them care. She peered over the ledge once more he was still now, only a few more feet away "shit he knows I'm here" she thought with a curse, as she was about to flee, she noticed his clothing covered with frost. His cloths where wet? What is this Idiot thinking? He will catch his death??? She inspected more from afar, his skin was dark. Very dark. Ones skin tends to get pale in the winter seasons, he's clearly not from here. As he pulled his hood over his head once more,She moved slowly back into hiding, her hand gripping the silky snow. Small snow balls gentle tumbled to the bottom of the hill, instantly she ducking her head low. Gods above, please let my ears be low enough, I can't afford a fight....not know!

A sudden sound caught his attention and his head snapped to the side just in time to see jostled snow land at the bottom of a nearby hill. His red eyes studied the snow topped hill but he was partially blinded by the brightness of it. Could it have just been the wind? No...The snow was smooth and untouched and it was unlikely that it would suddenly move snow, particularly when the gusts were getting no worse. Damn, so someone really was here...
Unmoving, he pondered for a moment what to do. He was a deadly killer...at night, in the dark or unseen. But here, in the middle of the day, blinded by the snow and clearly seen by whomever was over the hill he doubted he stood much of a chance. Not to mention the fact that he was frozen. Even if he did have the chance to quick draw either his knife or his bow he wouldn't be able to fight worth shit. He could barely feel his hands. And he certainly did not survive everything he had just to die in the middle of nowhere. Then again, that all depended on if the mystery person was even armed. There were only two good reasons why someone would hide, because they feared him, or because they meant to cause harm.
Coming to a decision, he took his hand off his knife, then lowered the bundle of rabbits to the ground as well before raising both hands before him. "I know you're there." His voice was smooth and strangely accented. "And I know you know I'm here. Let's not have this come to violence." In this instance it would be better to be safe then sorry.

Ashen's eyes popped open to the sound of his voice, oh no I was seen! Oh no no no this isn't..wait what? His last few words didn't make sense at all. Sense when did an assassin not want violence??? Least the ones she is use to. As her thoughts raced the wind swepted across her lavender shaded fur, wafting up her feline nose. She smelt...smelt...food? Cautiously she Slowly she raised her head looked at the hooded figure, at his feet,..rabbits a bundle of rabbits. She cursed her stomach for enjoying the smell, her son would ashamed. Keeping her head low enough so only the top of her head could be seen. Her feline jade eyes locking on him. What a day to forget her head gear. As she watched him she readied her muscles to run as fast as she could. "S-sense when... W-when does an assassin not wish to k-kill others?" Hating her mouth for shuddering right then... Now she sound as scared as a pathetic field mouse, which wasn't a lie. Last time she fought and assassin, well, she was alive, silver lineing. Curse this feeling, this feeling of fear not once did she ever feel this way. Not even wen her mother went..well back then she didn't have anyone to rely on her... Damn...

Hmm, so it was that he was feared. Rightfully so in better conditions but he wasn't about to tell her that. Squinting through his white eyelashes he tried to get a good look at the face peeping over the hill, yet still the glaring white blinded him. Crossing his arms over his chest in an attempt to warm his hands, he answered her. "It's simple. I was not paid to kill you and you have done nothing to me. I am an assassin. Not a mindless killer."
He was almost offended at the inquiry of the mystery woman. Was that normally what people thought of him? Did they fear approaching him in case he would lash out? What it because he was so obviously an assassin or was it because he was a drow....It was not beyond his knowledge that his race did not have a good reputation. Then again, there was a reason for that he supposed. Damn it, had she seen his face??
"If I startled you it was not my intention. I am usually on edge." Which was justified considering his history. "I just didn't expect to see anyone else out here."

Normally ashen would have shot someone like him, and she nearly did when he crossed his arms, thinking he was drawing a weapon. But for some reason he more or less wanted to speak with him then attack or defend..why? Why was she being so risky? Well she did have the snow, and sun in her favour it looked as if he couldn't see well. Gulping, she steeled her thoughts slowly climbing to reveal herself completely. Crouching as if ready to pounce at any moment and keeping her fangs visible. " sorry for my hesitation, my every many encounters with assassins haven't been pleasant. I would like to think I can trust you, seeing how your words sound sincere." She put her bow and arrow away smoothly and slowly, not to show that she was aggressive. "But I promise you any form of hostility to me and I'll make you bleed out of orifices you didn't think you had" she scanned him, studied him for a moment. His form seemed...insulted? Was he honestly insulted that someone with his "reputation" of killing for profit untrustworthy? "If I come off as strong...I'm sorry...I'm Ashen. Who are you? Where do you hail from? I have never seen..someone like you?" She waited for his response still crouching on top of her hill, her white fur cloak swaying around her.

As the woman climbed over the hill, the mans brows rose in surprise. She was not what he was expecting. She appeared to be catlike, her fur a color that he did not see often. Wracking his brain he tried and failed to pinpoint a species. Kinto? Perhaps....he had seen more of them in the north than anywhere in the south. Probably because their species was ridiculed and hated, much like his own. But something about her made him think she was something else.
Sticking his gloved hands under his arms, he hugged himself tighter. He felt that if he stood still for much longer his blood would start to freeze. But considering the lithe fashion she moved in and wielded the bow she just shouldered, he decided to stick around for a conversation. Hopefully a friendly conversation, he reconsidered, after her threat. "Then you have not met many proper assassins. Where I come from there are people who learn enough in passing to get by, flaunting their skill and using in a dishonorable manner. But that does not make them a proper assassin, it only makes them a killer. And then there are those who train for years, who live and breath their trade and who work by a code. And that....is the code I work by." Most of the time anyway. There were occasions where he would strike a man down when not on a job. But there was always good reason behind his blade.
At the slew of questions he froze. He didn't much like divulging information about himself. Particularly his name. Names were a messy business, creating a link, much like a rope that connected all of the places you've been, the people you've interacted with back to you. From the moment you're born to the moment you die. It allows people to follow the rope all the way to you. And there were people he did not ever want to see again. It was why he went by many names. Carefully he thought over what he would say next before speaking. "For now you may call me Fallen. As you pointed out I am an assassin. I travel from the south in search of work." After being purposefully vague he paused to regard her, his red eyes piercing from under his hood. "You said someone like me but clearly you did not mean the fact that I am an assassin. You saw my face earlier." Damn it. Damn it all, he should have pulled his hood up immediately. He did not lightly show people his face.

"code? there is a code among assassins?! this is news to me." Ashen Pondered placing her forefinger, and thumb on her chin. "i live by codes as well, hence your not dead yet either.." continuing to watch him she noticed he seemed cold. she wondered if his armor and clothing was even really fit for this weather? though she was one to talk, she was in her feral form only because it was cold. "are you cold? i could prepare a fire, weather permitting. i would much like to continue talking Mister...Fallen was it? i am curious about you, i never have seen ones skin so dark, and ones who face is as handsomely chiseled as yourself." she smirked. she knew assassins don't like to know they have been seen. but she wasn't lieing, he was handsome...least to her. Her smirk quickly vanished as she squinted in pain clenching her stomach. "blast it.." she cursed then realized she displayed a weakness. *shit* she thought, quietly she lept from the hill landing mere feet away from Fallen, she stood quietly. wiping the snow off her cloak and wings which where bandaged tightly. "so..." she dragged on still cleaning the snow from her "where too mister Fallen?"

"Obviously only in the south." He muttered. He supposed whatever assassins lived so far north did not have the training he did, or the knowledge. Or perhaps they just lacked all honor. But no matter, should he come across someone like that he could always teach them. Ashen's next words nearly name him scoff. Normally anothers surety in their ability to kill him would leave him smirking, but right now? He was the one that was out of his element. And out in the elements. He listened quietly to her speak, frowning at her jab that he had been so careless to show her his face. But it also made him pause in wonder. Him attractive? She must be joking. He was a drow, most just thought his species dark and frightening. Surely that was only added to the jest that she knew his appearance.
"I was heading back to my camp. It's temporary but sheltered." Bending, he picked up the rabbits again, flinging them over his shoulder. He didn't really want to take her back there...It would mean that he would have to move shortly after. There was no way he was going to stay in a place that he could be easily found.
Stepping away when she jumped at him so suddenly, his free hand immediately went for a knife. Quickly he drew it away, realizing that she was not attacking him. It didn't seem he would easily lose her either.Hmmmm...Perhaps this could work in his favor. "How about this. Let us head towards the tavern. I will tell you as much as I will in exchange for information about this town and it's people." He purposely ignored her question. Of course he was cold. Be like how she did not want to show weakness neither did he. He who was supposed to be a master assassin, he who had been feared so greatly that he's had been ruthlessly hunted and wanted across many an estate, he who's name had been whispered in fear; he who'd been fondly called the hand of death by those who hire him. He who was now frozen and wanting more than anything to duck into a warm place and huddle before a fire. "And it's just Fallen. No title. For that is not my true name."

she looked at him, confused he wanted to be seen by others? and he wants to know of them? this could be bad, ill have to re frame from speaking of my family...how ever if his attacks where to a certain dark lord of a certain black temple she would be more then willing to give info. She had a bone to pick with him anyway. After Hearing him correct her about his name once more.
she bowed her head, "my apologies, Fallen" she looked over to the direction of the tavern and noticed the sun beginning to set. she sighed knowing she would probably regret this...
"if you want ill wait here for you to come back, you can get your things and after we speak at the tavern i can take you to my home. it very warm and dry, my ally Blacksmith is there. im sure he would like the male company for a change. you can leave when you like? it is a warm place to sleep till you get on your feet in a new land..its up to you." she smiled a genuine smile at him ears perked up in happiness to the thought of a new ally "that IS my code after all, i wouldn't be much of a guild leader if i was completely heartless." she shrugged, she knew that comment was full of horse manure, a child could bat there eye lashs at her and she would do anything for them, course he didnt know that...."the offer is there you can take it and be in a warm comfortable bed, with what food and drink we do have, or you can stay in your shelter which im not sure is very warm, on a bedroll. either way my offer stand and the tavern is that way"
She pointed after she layed the options in front of him. assuming he was the "honorable" type perhaps this would be a great opportunity to get a taste of what real assassins are like and not just mindless murders with blades.
"and if you are to cold to move i can lend you my Cloak, i made it myself but i expect it back once we enter the tavern... Well Fallen, i believe the chooses are before you. what path do you choose?" she looked at him, less hostile, less defensive. she could sense that he didnt want to kill her, least not now. And besides Terjak was at the house if things where to happen and he could handle himself well if things got to hairy... he just looked so cold, seeing him cold reminded her of the many winters she struggled alone. curled up in some god forsaken cave with no one to help her, to offer any kind of aid, villages calling her a curse for the way she looked...and he was no different, she was a stranger to this land, with no one, cold... well least she offered him a warm bed for the night if he so desired. after pointing the way, she waited for him to decide how this would play out, maybe that would make him more comfortable. he is an assassin after all.

"Hm, Although I appreciate you're offer, I usually prefer my own company." When they had first met she had been standoffish, threatened. But now she was being kind....to kind? It was hard to tell. He didn't really like humans, nor did he like elves. So keeping company he enjoyed was difficult. It ended in with a solitary life which it turned out he was completely fine with. But the way she was acting now....hmm...was this some kind of ploy or was she being genuine? Either way, he had no intention of staying with her or her people. It didn't jive with who he was. "As for my camp, it is not necessary for me to stop there first." A sudden gust of wind caused his hood to fall again and rather then fix it he only sighed. He was young for a drow and it showed with a close look at his features, by human standards he appeared to be perhaps 20. But in the ages of men he had lived more than one life time. Either way it didn't matter, Ashen had already seen his face. He would fix his hood when they entered the shelter of the town. It was easier than fighting the wind. Moving, he started walking towards town, expecting her to follow him. "I don't mean to offend but I'm used to being alone, and in my profession it's safer." The bright light of the setting sun hitting the snow blinded him even worse than before and he squinted just to see ahead. Damn, he was looking forward to nightfall. "Let us just make it to the tavern." Before I freeze to death, he added on in his head.

ears lowered as she looked toward where he tread. why am i so disappointed, she wondered. "well the offer is there if you change your mind" she said with a sadden smile on her face. as she turned to follow a gust of wind blew right in her face, she raised her hands blocking the snow, which snow that felt like knives cutting her hands. as the wind died down, she slowly blinked her eyes open from the harsh wind. she heard a sigh, she looked toward fallen. his white hair flowed with the wind and she could see his deep red eyes. his skin wasn't just dark, it was black, as black as the nights which she favored for hunting. he was very young in appearance, she would dare admit younger then herself! she knew he probably couldn't see it blush began to rush to her cheeks. *even close up he was nice to look at... wait what the hell am i thinking?! oh gods above help me!* she pleaded to herself.Quickly she cleared her throat, as Fallen began to walk toward the town. Why am i getting like this? she thought, snap out of it woman! She scolded herself until she heard him speak once more.
"i don't mean to offend but im used to being alone, and in my profession it's safer" those words began to bore deep within her. she knew to well what being alone is like. she thought long ago she used to enjoy it too...well that was before she came to Wildgard. found her friends and her son,a leader, someone that people can rely on. she quickly ran up beside him, the light not affecting her as badly as it appeared on him. he seemed hell bent on heading to the tavern, she offered him a special pair of Lenses she made from a broken pair of Matsu's smithing lenses, it has a small slit to see though so the blinding light wasnt as bad."they help you see when it to bright. from the looks of things your light sensitive. it will help you move faster, so you dont freeze, would be embarrassing if i where to carry you into the town how wouldnt it?" she gave a trying smile afraid she may offend him, she knows her jokes can be...well not funny. "if you dont want them it alright, just trying to help out what i can" she still smiling trying her best now to be friendly.being hostile wasn't her idle welcome to Wildgard. worried she even retracted her nails slightly to make sure if he did grab them he would be clawed. she continued her offer while they walked.

At her words embarrassment shot through him followed by the tiniest hint of anger. He let it go quickly, no it wasn't her fault, she only pointed out the obvious. But had be really been so obviously struggling that she'd seen it? "You're right. My eyes are better suited to the night. But even then, I can usually see ok in day." Frowning under his scarf he glanced down. "It's the snow. The glare makes it worse." Wow, you are one damn useless waste of your training, he cursed at himself internally.
Finally he turned to size up what she was offering him. Normally he hated accepting charity from anyone but the disappointed that had crossed her face when he turned down her first offer hadn't escaped him. Even though the snow was blinding him, he still had a knack for observation. Brow furrowing slightly he lifted the glasses delicately from her hand and studied them for a moment. Interesting. He had seen his kind use these before but he had never came across a pair himself.
Sliding them on delicately behind his pointed ears he noticed the difference immediately. The glare was gone and he found he didn't have to squint so badly. Not bad. "Thank you." He nodded to the woman. But still......the uneasy feeling of accepting charity lingered. It was then that a thought came to him. "You never said why you were out in this weather. But considering your bow I can assume your reason was the same as mine?" He raised his brows at her. Although it appeared she hadn't been nearly as successful. Unslinging the rabbits from his shoulder, he separated two from the bundle and offered them to her. "As thanks for your help and hopefully for what you can later tell me about this town." Take them, just take them. He hated being in debt.

"your welcome" happy finally she was able to aid him, now she didnt feel so bad about earlier. as she turned to continue walking he spoke, her ear twitched to his direction. suddenly he held two rabbit in front of her? she gazed at the rabbits in front of her. her mouth watering, oooh the things she could make! nice warm delicious rabbit stew!...wait NO no...i shouldnt, i couldnt he was out here surviving why was he giving her some of his kill? was it because he thought she couldnt hunt?... no that doesn't seem right besides if lux where to find out she would be avoid fire for weeks...then again... she hadnt eaten in days...i have to do what i need to do for my own survival, right? looking at his face, now harder to read with the lenses on. she tried to figure out if this was a cruel jest. she should just cut her loses. "no its ok, really! ill b-" just then her stomach growled at her as if to say take the damn things. embarrassed to all the 7 hells she took the rabbits gently. "thank you"she said almost in a whisper. she looked away gods above, a hunter accepting someone's hunt. she was no better then a vulture in her eyes.
even so she didnt want to offend a much needed gift, she looked at Fallen once more and though her embarrassment was still plain as day, she smiled at him. she even couldnt stop the slightly giggle. *a giggle?! what the hell is wrong with you!! just go to town already before he puts a knife in your throat!* she corrected herself, she kept the smile on her face as she moved her cloak, and draped the rabbits over her left shoulder, which was covered in old bandages still with dried blood on them, and revealing her wing to the cold. realizing her mistake with widen eye, she quickly covered her wing and she looked back at Fallen. wondering if he saw, she cleared her throat. "well i guess this means first round is on me?" she nervously giggled then quickly walked toward the town, keeping her sight straight ahead of her feet looking down slightly. *keep your eyes forward you stupid girl* she scolded herself...what are you a kitten? snap out of it!
