It was late into the night, Ashen had recently cleaned herself up from Trinity 'talk' earlier that day. she was curled up, the sound of a small crackling fire was like her lulluby. exhausted from Training scale members, Slaying the undead, and her job, it didnt take much for Ashen to fall asleep. the window open a crack only letting the slightest of the nights sounds drift in, as the breeze moved the fur curtain, to show the moon and star lit skies.
Shifting slightly, her forehead bumped into something gently. it was warm, and in her sleep she couldn't help but enjoy the scent that wafted to her nose, causing her to move in her sleep closer. it was Fallen, who rested in the bed beside her.
when it was just the two of them, she could relax. let her defenses down and even be able to take off her armor. As the fire crackled, the furs warmth enclosed around them; Ashen remained asleep.

He had heard the fight that had went on downstairs, the words and accusations thrown around. He had actually left the room and hovered at the top of the stairs. But...he couldn't confront that anger. Some of those words rung true in his heart. He was a broken thing that needed to be fixed. He needed to be saved, even still, and both Ashen and Trinity knew it. So instead he slunk back into the bedroom.
Curling up on the bed so his forehead nearly touched his knee's, Fallen tried to shut out the remaining shouting. Eventually after it did stop, he actually drifted off. And like usual, whenever he closed his eyes, he was back in that place.
He couldn't move, couldn't fight, couldn't breath as the cold iron pulled tight around his throat, The sound of chains mixed with Damians laugh as the inquisitor pulled the thorned whip from his jacket His heart thundered as the inquisitor toyed with him
Still safely in the scale, the nightmare caused the drow to whimper audibly. Sweat beaded on his forehead and caused his hair to cling to his skin.

Ashen eye cracked open to a sound. only to close her eyes agian, listening to the sounds of the breeze and fire. Ashen heard the whimper agian. this time, her eyes opening fully. sitting up with the support of one arm, Ashen looked around.
Where was the noise coming from? she continued to look around, until she heard it once more right beside her. Looking down at Fallen, she saw he was curled, up letting out whimpers. Sitting up more and turning towards him, she began to worry. letting her hand gently move to him and begin to move the hair from his face, until finally resting on his cheek.
as the whispers continued, Ashen felt a scene of familiarity to the whole scene; but couldnt put her paw on it. "Fallen?...Fallen?" she called to him, in words almost like a whisper.
then it hit her, It was the same sounds she made when Miara took her. When she was captured, and tortured. Was Fallen having a nightmare? did he hear her fight with her sister? Guilt flooded her. she began to worry if her argument with her sister set Fallen off.
"Fallen,...its ok wake up, its just a dream" She called quietly agian.

The drow awoke with a start, still disoriented from his dream for a moment he couldn't remember where he was. Jerking away from the touch, he gasped a breath or two before his heart calmed and reality sunk in. It was another nightmare. He was home. Safe in the scale and far away from Rosynwood.
Realizing that he wasn't alone, he turned his wide blood shot eyes behind him to meet Ashen's gaze. "I-" The word came out in a rasp. He cleared his throat. "I'm sorry if I woke you." He whispered, turning his gaze away. "I...I'm ok..." Or at least that's what he wanted her to believe.

jumping when Fallen moved to suddenly, she retracted her hand right away. She watched him closely, her eyes slightly glowing in the moonlight and dull flame. Listening to his words, it didnt set in with her at all that he was 'okay' in the slightest.
"its alright..." Returning her hand to his cheek moving his face towards hers gently, she leaned in and kissed his forehead. looking down at him, she smiled slightly.
"talk about it, Nightmares are best to get off your chest. you taught me that...remember how bad mine got after miara? Its ok Fallen, talk." using her thumb she rubbed his cheek. leaning down and even rubbing the tips of there noses together, to relieve the tension.
She had to hide her worry, or he would feel the need to hide it. she would have to wear her mask, even for him now. or he would do something more hurtful to her, even without him willing to do so.

"I..I just.." He trailed off, voice quiet. He couldn't seem to meet her gaze. Even now, after everything was over...she had to look after him. Even now she was still saving him from that man.
"Every time I close my eyes I..." He swallowed drying, chest tightening at the memory. "I'm back there."
He pushed himself over and buried his face in her shoulder. "I'm still helpless against him. Even in my dreams." His words were muffled against her nightshirt, barely audible. "I didn't want to worry you."

Ashen listened closely as he spoke, it was difficult for him too and she knew this. Just as she was about to reply, he buried his face on her shoulder. Ashen froze for a moment, it was worse then she thought.
it was worse then she was with Miara. at least in her sleep she began to escape the evil woman, with fallen there was no escape.
Bringing her hands up, one resting on his back, the other the back of his head. she gently ran her fingers through his hair, and rubbed circles on his back.
"Its ok Fallen, im here. it was only a dream." she spoke whispering softly into his ear. Kissing his head again she pulled him closer. What stung the most, was he still didnt want to worry her even while carrying a burden like his. Had this actually been a problem for a while? and he simply just not tell her?
Ashen hushed her own mind, to keep her mask on for fallen. "i will always worry, just like you will always worry for me, its what loved ones do, thank you for telling me." she continued to rub his back as she nuzzled him slightly.
"ill come into your dreams, and scare him away just like you did for me. Just think of me before you sleep, all the good times. Thats what helps me." she confessed as she continued to support him.

He squeezed his eyes shut when he felt moisture build in them. He didn't want to cry, not about this. Not again.
She wasn't entirely right about it being a dream though. To him, these nightmares where memories of a past so recent he could still feel it.
Her gentle hands soothed his frayed nerves slightly as the unshed tears dried. One Victory at least... "I'm always thinking about you." he whispered. It didn't help, not really. What's worse was that he knew why.He knew why these nightmares had started and why they were getting worse. But he couldn't tell her, he couldn't. He couldn't.
Swallowing, he wrapped his arms around her, still refusing to lift his head to meet her gaze. He wanted to apologize for being such a burden to her. To apologize that she always had to be the strong one these days. But he knew that she wouldn't hear it. "I just..." He started again but trailed off, rethinking his words.
"Just....stay here... like this." He felt safer in her arms. And even if that didn't extent to his subconscious it made him at least feel better now.

OOC:I do not own this song...its pretty but not mine"of course my love, i will hold you as long as you need; all night if i must. we carry each others." she spoke softly. moving slightly she ajusted so Fallen would rest his head on her chest. her arms still wrapped around him, only removed when she made there little nest comfortable to lay down and rest agian, and to cover him with the furs once more. once settled agian, Ashen ran her hand through his hair agian, and continued rubbing his back. feeling him move closer to her, Ashen felt a need to do something she hadnt done scene summer. She began to sing, the same song she sung once for him to calm him in the woods. instead of the proud voice she had, she kept it low, slow like a lullaby. starting her song with a quite hum, she kept true to the tune of the song once her hum was over, allowing the hymn to comfort fallen. hahren na melana sahlin emma ir abelas souver'inan isala hamin vhenan him dor'felas in uthenera na revas
vir sulahn'nehn vir dirthera vir samahl la numin vir 'lath sa'vunin'
vir sulahn'nehn vir dirthera vir samahl la numin After she had finished the song, as traditionally as she could. she turned her head only slightly to check to see if Fallen had been swept by sleep or if he remained stubborn.

As Ashen started to sing, it actually took him a moment to register that her song was in drow. Letting out a long breath, he relaxed to listen. She probably knew the language better than he did at this point...
With his eyes still closed, he felt himself begin to drift. Normally he would take him longer to fall asleep, fear of the inevitable fate he'd meet in his nightmares keeping him awake. But right now...he felt safe. His thoughts floating along with the melody until he was finally asleep, still nestled into her.

Seeing his eyes closed, she closed her own; and listened. sure enough She heard his breathing slow, and grow heavy. After a moment she opened her eyes, again, starring at the ceiling of there room.
There was more then he let on, and he wasnt telling her. Did Fallen still not trust her? after everything? Ashen felt a twinge in her heart to the thought that they where back right where they began. Even if he felt safe near her, nestled on her as he slept. She couldnt help but feel as if Fallen looked at her like a stranger now.
She could feel something hot build behind her eyes, as she let out a quit sigh. Worry, Doubt, Fear began to wash over hear as she turned to rest her lips on his head. she didnt want to believe Fallen had passively Lied to her, about being alright. convincing her at every turn that he was alright, to stop her from worrying and to keep her on focusing on herself at every turn. the truth was, he did. intentional or not, Ashen couldnt help but feel hurt that her life mate would keep this from her. Closing her eyes, She simply willed herself to sleep; though she wouldnt be so lucky.
it was going to be another sleepless night for her, not with worry of the Scale and the undead, but more now with Fallen. She hated herself for believing he had gotten better, like he convinced her he was. She was going to have to keep her mask, until she knew for sure he was better, which knowing some of what happened, will never be.
