Ashen sat beside the window close to the bonfire pit, looking out towards the blue skys. she winds looked calm and she wanted to go outside, perhaps to even practice flying; something she had been putting off for some time. the fire near her crackled as the flames licked the dry logs ashen recently threw on. as she rested her chin on her hand, leaning toward the window; legs crossed as she sat on a crate. in her other hand a small stein with slight steam rising from it, brewed herbs to promote healing and detoxing.
beside her, bound it the leather string attached to it was her journal and quill. she had lost the urge to write once she got comfortable, watching the clouds roll by was far more tantalizing then writing. she was wearing a brown skirt, that was rather big on her, and a loose black shirt. the straps along the v-neck where gone, leaving it open a bit. it had been a long time sense ashen was able to relax, to just keep to herself and enjoy what was around her. however it had been so long she had forgotten how, and she was utterly bored.

Jay wondered downstairs rubbing his eyes. He had no idea what time it was, he just hoped Ashen wouldn't be too upset with him for starting his chores late, it had been hectic lately and this was the first decent sleep he had gotten in a while. Just as he was about to sneak out of the house when he noticed Ashen sitting by the bonfire. There was no way to get out now without alerting her. 'Damn and here I was hoping this would be easy' he thought to himself. 'Well we should announce ourselves, even if mama has a great sense of smell it is the polite thing to do' he told himself as he walked towards her. He never was late starting his chores before. Maybe Ashen would go easy on him. "Morning mother. What are you doing sitting there by yourself?

Rose was perched up high, balanced on the rafters. Bright eyes watched as Jay came down the stairs, watched Ashen looking out the window. Her ears flattened and fur prickled at the thought of how she had been treating the pair of them since she came to the Scale. Hell, how she had been treated the Scale as a whole. Guilt, she thought idly, this is guilt. She twitched irritably. Guilt was not something Rose was familiar with, nor comfortable with. She was torn between addressing the two of them or remaining in the rafters, watching. Rose shifted slightly as she tried to decide, instincts warring with common sense, and with her own nature.

Freyan was taking stock in the Storage room of all the herbs they had, he'd already done the Lab, and his own room, Kelsey always kept his door locked so he'd ask him to do his own. There were down on many essential herbs and spices, and with winter coming soon he wanted to get as much as possible. Having finished he leafed through his notes. "Down on most cooking herbs and spices.... healing herbs were moderate (must have been a quite month)... and of course we're low on catnip" he thought to himself rolling his eyes at the last item. Straightening his papers, he sealed his bottle of ink, and wiped down his quill, placing them all in a book where he would copy down his notes for the house records. Walking out into the hall, he walked down the stairs looking for Ashen to report his findings. He saw Jay standing near the bonfire talking to Ashen. "Sorry guys but we're running low on Kintu crack" he said to the room with a smirk (ooc: I have no idea if crack is a thing in the world of Wildgard, but it will do for now)

"im thinking son, just enjoying the peace. i have a strange feeling growing inside that something horrible will happen soon..." She turned to look at him with a smile. have you e-" She paused as she saw freyan come down stairs. she could smell the herbs he had been near, someone took inventory for her. this caused her to smile again. its was refreshing to know Ashen could rest and the scale would still not fall apart. she wondered if she was even needed anymore.
"Crack? like shorma? that will never enter this house! what the hell is kintu cr-....do you mean cat grass?" Ashen asked with almost a twitch on her brow. "cat grass is naturally grown...its not brewed like shorma..thank you for inventory though. its appropriated, the moonshine i have been making is almost done if that interests you." She returned the smirk hoping she was speaking freyans language.
she turned her gaze to jay. "i was going to ask if you have eaten yet, there is some prepared some fruit and i baked fresh bread this morning, it should still be warm." she pointed to the table across the room. "plenty for all, please eat." Ashen looked outside once more, resting her chin on her hand again. "oh yes, they are for everyone...including those who wish to remain unseen" Ashen smirked, she had smelt roses scent scene from the start, but humored her in staying silent and unaware of her for Rose's sake.

Jay watched his mother interact with Freyan and thought of how she looked a bit more relaxed then before she started her break. When she asked if he had eaten yet Jay smiled sheepishly at Ashen "not yet. I actually just woke up, I was about to head out to do my chores." he told her before taking a sniff of the room trying to figure out who was there smiling as he caught a whiff of Rose.

Rose's ears pricked at the mention of food. She hadn't eaten since the night before, still wary of taking anything from the house and even warier still of being seen. She blanched at Ashen's wording after, however. Ashen knew she was there. The feeling Rose had earlier identified as guilt increased. She shuffled uneasily on her perch, still intensely conflicted on what to do. Her tail twitched off of the perch, dangling beneath her without her knowledge. She fiddled with the bead on her necklace, thoughts going in circles. What should she do, should she apologize, should she remain in the rafters even though Ashen knew she was there...what to do.
As Rose shifted she felt the pile of fabric in her pocket. Right, her apology. Perhaps there was a way to have both.
On quiet feet, Rose padded across the rafters over to where Ashen was. Flattening her ears and gritting her teeth, she slowly pulled the fabric out of her pocket and turned it over in her hands. She was going to do this, Rose was going to make things right. Fix her mistakes, just as she was taught. And, of course, insulting the owner of the place she was currently staying was a big mistake. Rose leaned forwards slightly, eyes flicking briefly to Jay, before letting the fabric drop.
(OOC: Ashen I actually have the thing Rose made you, its your christmas present that I'll be bringing to wildgard this sunday. : 3)

Freyan raised an eyebrow at Ashen's comment, and looked around the room to see if He had missed anyone when he came in. As he turned a piece of fabric fluttered down from the rafters out of his line of sight enough that it was able to land infront of Ashen without him noticing. He turned to Jay. "I am in need of a break, have you eaten yet?"

As ashen was about to speak to Freyan and answer his question, something fluttered in the corner of her eye. Turning her gaze to something moving, she made a sound like a panicked meow as she jumped up onto the table behind her. Crouching on the table she glared at the item, slowly she moved forward, and carefully and cautiously brought her hand close to the object. Batting it to see if it lifes.

Jay thought that perhaps he might have been the first to see the fabric fall as he watched his mother and Freyan react to it. He tried not to laugh as Ashen started batting at it. "Mother it's just a piece of fabric, no need to bat at it" he said to her before turning his head to look at where he suspected Rose would be and smirked. "hey why don't you come down here and eat with us Rose? You know instead of throwing fabric at people" he joked before becoming a bit more serious. "or if you don't feel comfortable coming down here you can move to the rafters above the table and we'll pass some food up to you. whatever you prefer" he told her before walking to the table and sitting down. "I'm starving though so I'm eating with or without you guys."

Rose smiled slightly and relaxed more at the group's response to the cloak. She hoped Ashen would, correctly, assume that it was for her, either way it seemed like everyone there knew it was Rose in the rafters. She slunk along the beam closer to the table, letting her tail drag along the wood. Her ears were tilted sideways as she moved, nervous at being detected and unsure of how to proceed. Food would be nice, Rose hadn't gotten a chance to snag anything since the night before. She stopped approximately above where the table would be and perched, tail twitching anxiously below her. As much as Rose wanted to sit at the table and eat, there were new people here and she was still only getting used to people in general.

After swiping at the fabric a few more time to the fabric. Slowly she lifted it and sniffed the fabric, then drapped it over her head. She felt the warm fabric on her skin and soon she realized it was a cloak!
Slowly she laided down and wrapped herself in the fabric like a caccon. "I like it" she muffled threw the fabric. Cursing herself realizing she wasn't able to eat now.
