The seas were calm.
Morning were usually like that, no matter where the pirates ended up.
The fog settled so nicely like a curtain on the bay, and the grey sky hid behind it a brilliant sunrise, ready to show itself.
But it was all so calm nonetheless.
"Captain!" Cried one of the crew to Lianis, who was sound asleep on the bow of the ship. The Captain shook violently and nearly leaped into the water, were it not for his crewman aiding him.
"What is it? Why are you waking me up so early?!" He yelled angrily, before realizing that the sun was close to rising behind the grey curtain of sky.
Frantically, the Captain slipped on the coat he'd been using as a blanket and draped his bandana over his head and eye. He had a timing to meet, and he sure as hell wasn't going to be late like the last time.
Especially for the lovely young bard he was escorting this time.

Sarea stepped along the grass, trying to find where she was going amidst the fog. Despite having elven eyes as powerful as a hawk's, finding the ship she was to board in the mist was proving to be a challenge.
Especially for having worn flats that morning.
She walked, the morning dew brushing against her bare legs, until finally she found herself listening to the sounds of the ocean. The bard was anticipating this trip, both in a good way yet a bad way.
The bad involved her former mentor in the bardic arts being on his deathbed. He'd been ill for the entirety of his period teaching her, and so it was known that he would be succumbing soon. Still, the fact that it was actually happening made it just as bad as if it had been unanticipated.
The good involved his will. His dying wish was for her, his acclaimed 'heir', to take his title as 'Master of the House' (Mistress in her case), and for her to continue his teachings to people around the world who wished to partake in the bardic arts.
She'd need to see him and bid him the greatest farewell into the next life.
Finally, the ship's great flags rose over the mist, and she could see it clear as day. A man with a band over his eye was waving to her, and she smiled and waved back.
"It is so wonderful to finally meet you, Captain Lianis!" She cried out. "If that is who you are?"

The Captain took the hand of the elven maiden in his own and brought it to his lips before planting a gentle kiss upon it. He then let it gently fall back to her side and he smiled.
"Aye, my name is Captain Lianis. I am the Captain of 'La Macheur de la Glace', it is true. And it is a pleasure to meet you as well!" He gestured towards his crew as they all waved joyfully. "And these are my crew. Not much of pirates, I know, but jolly no doubt."
He swung upwards towards the bridge of his ship and clapped the hands of all his crewmen before leaping back down. He then extended his hand with a smile.
"I can show you to your quarters. May I take your cloak?"

Sarea gratefully let Lianis take her cloak and she followed him into the lower decks of the ship. The crew seemed wonderful and kind as well, as they were all trying their best to smile their gritty teeth at her. It must've been hard for pirates to make a girl feel at home, but so far they were doing a very good job.
She arrived where Lianis opened the door to see a small bedroom with a single bed and a few cupboards, one of which was laid sideways at the foot of the bed as a footlocker. Despite its size, Sarea smiled and courtsied to thank the man.
"It is perfect. Thank you, Captain. If you'd allow me to change into something more...worthy of travel, I'd be most grateful."

Lianis nodded as he gave the girl her belongings. He put his hand on the door and closed it. "See you soon." He said before it shut; almost immediately, he went running upstairs to see his crew.
They were all gathered at the door, their eyes wide with excitement and some of them drooling.
"What's she doing?" Asked the first mate.
"I want to know which room she's in!" Yelled another crewman.
Lianis instantly brought out his hook and pointed it at the group, who knew that the eyepatch he wore showed his skill with the weapon in the past.
"I am not telling you. She is a widowed girl, and therefore should be respected as one. Remember our code about women on the ship?"
As if being told off, the pirates all turned to each other and muttered in monotone: "Women are friends, not food."
Lianis nodded, satisfied with the obedience of his crew; at that moment, he looked overboard and heard the sound of splashing in the water.
Someone was swimming towards them.

The cold water felt good in the morning against his burning skin, and the fog that obscured his vision made him feel even better. It helped him focus on where he was going.
And where he was going was years in the waiting.
As he splashed around, he remembered the promise he'd made to his old friend, and the note that had come to him in the tavern just the morning before. Sarea was leaving for Briton with a pirate Captain named Lianis and was hoping that people would know him as a safe man before she went. She'd left this morning after being told he was safe, but no one had noticed the drunk Nord listening in on their conversation from, like, two stools down. Wildgard people really were idiots.
And so here he was, swimming towards his old ship to meet with his old friend.
Finally, he reached a wooden wall in the mist, with the sound of jolly coming from atop. The Nord smiled and looked up, knowing the sounds of his crew well enough.
"Lianis! Get my butt onto your ship, you piece of ship!"
