Name: Zume Frostpaw
Species: Dalmatian Kinto (half human / half animal)
Company: Clan Akinishto
Household(s): Frostpaw Clan
Classes: Assassin / Monk
Credits: Lv. 6 Assassin / Lv. 2 Monk
Weapons: Zume’s preferred weapons are a single long sword, an assortment of throwing daggers and a bow.
Current Abilities: Zume has many abilities which are hidden and guarded like a secret. Though it is well known that he is able to slip in and out of the shadows unnoticed which has lead up to the rumors of being an Assassin.
Physical Description: Zume is about six feet tall and weighs about 190 pounds. Zume is not muscular at all and depends upon his speed and agility in battle. He has a heart-shaped spot over his right eye and on his right buttock (both are birthmarks), floppy black ears and a short white tail with spots as well as VERY short white fur with random spots covering his body.
Garb: Zume normally weapons a random assortment of black and pink clothing that has been acquired from the corpses of fallen Kintu. He does this in the hopes of honouring them in some small way. He is normally dressed in cloth or leather.
Motives: Zume is one of nature. Although he has often been called an “Assassin”, he wishes nothing more than to not be viewed at all. His motivations for anything he does works towards either helping others work with the land rather than against it or completely abandoning those he sees as unwilling or unable to comprehend his views. He will defend the natural world and feral creatures with his life.
Personal Motto: Zume’s personal motto stems from his training as a Monk and the time and lessons learned from nature itself: “To live with nature is to be balanced, to live against it is to be corrupt.”
History: Zume was born in the Human Kingdom of Araile under rule of King Gorlon. He was born to human parents as a human child with two distinguishing birthmarks in the shape of hearts which caused him to be the target of teasing and ridicule from both children and adults in the village where he lived, as well as the King’s guards. This was the start of his mistrust for others. Rather than attempt to incorporate him into daily life, he was often left out. This forced isolation from other humans wasn’t a bad thing, however. It gave him a perspective that few others could ever understand.
His parents were blacksmiths and so their job was war-oriented. They forged swords, armour and even axes or saws to cut down the forest for the use of the Kingdom. This saddened Zume as he often saw animals being chased away as a group of workers would start cutting down the trees. He never understood why animals had to suffer so that humans could thrive.
The forest near where Zume was raised was deemed off-limits by the King, but this never stopped him. Zume would often sneak off to the woods to several locations where he could find solitude and peace. He felt much more comfortable and at home among feral animals than among his own kind. Because of this a great bond was formed between him and the natural world. Any of the stories he ever heard about the “animals who walked as humans” were that they were bloodthirsty savages that would kill and tear apart a human without thinking twice. It was said they lived in the forests near the village so that kept anyone else from venturing into the woods which gave him the peace he craved. On one of his ventures into the forest, he came across a large wolf that could actually speak. This wolf talked at length to Zume about the natural world and became a very close friend to Zume.
At an age of ten, Zume was discovered to be a shifter by a guard of the Kingdom because of an unfortunate incident between Zume and another such guard. However it was revealed that the one who discovered Zume’s unknown form, too, was a Kinto in disguise as a Human. Zume first learned about “Kintu” in this way. Zume was taken into the Kingdom under the protection of this Kinto. Although Zume was unable to be trained as a guard because of his young age, he was taken to the monastery to be trained as a monk.
Through this training as a monk, Zume learned how to meditate and would spend hours on end imagining the forest and letting his mind roam free, even though he was staring at a stone wall lit by candlelight. Through these meditations, Zume discovered the ability to shift into a Kinto. When Zume was twenty years of age, this ability was discovered by the Humans of the Kingdom and Zume was imprisoned. His parents were taken into custody and executed before his eyes for giving birth to and raising a Kinto. Zume was left in a jail cell for several weeks before he was set to be executed. All those he had come to call “friends” within the Kingdom including those of the monastery and the guard who had initially protected and watched over him had left him to the mercy of the executioner. He felt betrayed and so vowed never to trust so lightly ever again.
Zume escaped the keep the day he was set to be executed. The humans made the mistake of allowing only one guard to escort Zume. He killed the guard who opened his cell, stole the guard's weapons and snuck out of the keep. He made his way into the forest and north across the mountains. He has seen the corruption of civilization, tyranny and humans first-hand and wished nothing more to do with them. Ever. He enjoyed a simple life among the animals and wilderness for almost four years before travelers settled among an open clearing near the base of the mountains. He knew this stench. Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, Humans and other Kintu. All of which called themselves “Civilized Folk” who sought to conquer the “untamed lands” of the north. Zume wasn’t going to let this happen and so inserted himself into the population of this town.
Role in Wildgard: Because of the sour events of his past, Zume was able to keep from being too noticed within the region of Wildgard by staying silent and interjecting his opinion where he felt it was needed. He quickly learned that nobody would listen. No matter how much he spoke of power and civilization corrupting even the most noble of intentions. However, one who he believed would listen soon appeared. A Druid by the name of Sylver. A strange cat-like Kinto who spoke of the Natural Order and Nature itself.
Zume worked his way onto a “council” formed within this town. Not once, but twice. He still hopes that some way he can make others see how wrong they are to be setting up a town here as coins and gems, greed and power will soon be the currency as it always is with “civilized” society. He has not given up but still keeps relatively silent so as to not draw too much attention by the many.. unsavory folk who have attempted to settle or take over.
Story Plot: Zume often seeks solitude, once again, as he had when he was a child. This was quickly becoming that which he had escaped. He is also, again, very often betrayed by those he lets get too close and puts up a larger barrier and speaks very carefully and is very quiet. Zume has never before attempted to change anything. He always ran away. So he is unsure as to whether or not this course of action he has set upon is wise. He will, however, do whatever it takes to keep these people from corrupting nature and destroying it. He is not afraid to fight for what he believes in.
