His legs swung over the side of the bridge. The sun beat onto his face like an elephant trampling him. His greasy locks were spread over his brow and against the bridge as drool poured out from either side of his mouth.
There was no doubt that Lukis Vinterheim, otherwise known as Lukis the Drunkard, was drunk.
Which in no way was a bad thing. In fact, if Lukis wasn't even the slightest bit tipsy, there was no way he would have gotten anywhere in life. He'd have stayed an honourable man in the Maran army, probably even rose to a high enough rank to live in the country and do bugger all with his life.
Instead, he became a rogue. A mercenary. A pirate. A Viking. A Gladiator. A husband. A wife. And very recently, a hulking, 20-foot tower of fire and intoxication.
A warm wind blew his coat or his legs, and Lukis let his body loose, which on his part was just as stupid as every other idea he'd had, as he soon found himself falling into the water below.
It was quite a fall, but nothing he wasn't used to. It reminded him slightly of walking the plank that one time...and the other.
When he hit the water, the cold liquid soothed him greatly and made the hot day all the more bearable.

The young man lay sprawled out on the grass, two large delicate wings spread out on either side of him, fluttering occasionally in the hot sun. He folded his arms under his head as a pillow, blowing a few strands of blond hair out of his face and smiling peacefully. The day was so nice and calm, a welcome change from the routine days of travel that had been the better part of the past few months. He sighed happily, threading a blade of grass through his fingers idly. The river ran sweetly nearby, the bridge overhead providing cover from the worst rays of the direct sun in his face. Suddenly a shadow whizzed by him and he startled to his feet as the thing landed in the river with a rather sizable splash. Clear blue eyes peered into the water, noticing that the thing was, in fact, a person! "Hey!" The man called out, waving one hand over his head, "You alright there? That's a fair bit of distance to fall, hey?"

Lukis looked up and saw a winged man, looking down at him from higher ground. Maybe too high. How far had he fallen? Mustn't have been that far if he wasn't dead.
"Hey there!" He cried out, spitting out the riverwater as he did. "It ain't too bad, actually. A hot day, but what better way to cool off?"
He thought he was right: during his days as a pirate, he often willingly walked the plank (most pirates didn't have one, but he was stupid enough to think it was cool) and cool off in the cold seawater. He'd nearly lost his arm to a shark once, but it swam away quickly enough; it probably smelled more alcohol instead of blood.
Lukis stared up at the youngster and grinned.
"The name's Lukis. Lukis Vinterheim! Why don't you come swim for a bit? You look like you could use it!"

The man raised his eyebrows as the person replied. It was perfect to him, the hot weather and the sun. Well, the sun could be a bit much at times and his fair skin didn't always take well to it's rays, but that was just an easy heal spell's fix. The youth never really understood those that disliked the heat, it was necessarily for survival after all! More so for him than the average human or kintu, but necessary nonetheless. He shuddered lightly at the thought of having to live in the cold, faded memories of icicles and narrow winding caves of snow briefly crossing his mind.
He was jolted out of his own musings as the stranger introduced himself. "Lukas, then?" He parroted, eyes flicking over the other's sodden hair and dripping face before smirking. "Nah, the water's a bit too deep for me with these," He shrugged, nodding quickly over his shoulder to one wing, butterfly shaped and iridescent blue in the sunlight. "They don't take well to the water, see? 'Sides it's perfectly fine out here! I'm a fan of the sun, really." He paused for a moment before reaching his hand out to Lukas. "I'm Adrian though, nice to meet you, yeah?" This was how humans greeted strangers, right?

Lukis eyed the boy's beautiful, colourful wings on his back, and he chuckled.
"Ah, I see! Wouldn't want to get those all soggy, now would we?" He greeted in return as he grabbed the lad's hand and squeezed it as hard as he could. "That's a Viking's shake...or was it a pirate's one? I always get the two mixed up, honestly."
He let his body float to the surface of the water and he laid there for a moment, basking in the hot sun but remaining cool with the river's water.
"I'm from Norway, ya see. I'm used to the cold. In fact, if it were winter, I'd still be doin' this!" He turned onto his side, took a mouthful of water, and spat it out into the sky like a whale would. Lukis always enjoyed the cold, the water, and fun. If the world had none of them, why would he want to be in it? Of course, it was all ruined by his once-a-month occurrence, so he hoped to Odin that today wasn't the day.
Still, he didn't mind having a bit of fun for now in the presence of a new friend...all it needed was booze.
"Hey, laddy! Can you pass me down another one of my bottles? Take one, too, if ya like!" He paused for a moment and smiled. "While you're at it, mind tellin' me a bit about ya? If we're going to be friends, I can't know only that you have wings and a penis."

Adrian winced a little at the hard pressure on his hand, gingerly shaking it once the other man let go and nearly expecting a bruise to blossom or bones to crack. His eyes widened as Lukas talked about the cold, disbelief in every line of his body at the other's words. Who the hell in their right mind would go swimming in the winter?! You'd end up frozen, or dead! Adrian wasn't really sure which was worse, testament to how deep his hatred of the cold ran. He focused on the warmth of the sun on his wings, chasing the thoughts of cold and dark from his mind.
He hummed softly, looking back up at the bridge and spotting the glimmer of sun through glass. "Oh, okay yeah sure!" Adrian said, disregarding the rest of Lukas' words for the time being, hopping up lightly into the air and spreading his wings fully, letting them keep him in the air. He hung there for a second, a smile breaking across his face, before fluttering his wings quickly to get a bit more altitude and flitting towards the bridge. There were a few bottles on the bridge, some of them upright, some of them not, all of them in varying states of fullness. He grabbed two of the fuller bottles before swooping back down to Lukas, absolutely ecstatic to be in the air. It had been a while since he had a chance to fly aimlessly, his flight had been straightforwards and directional for the better part of the past few months.
Adrian hovered above Lukas, dangling one bottle down into his reach by the neck. He peered into the bottle he was still holding curiously, he'd not much experience with mortal foods or drinks, but this one smelt slightly alcoholic by the scent of it, and of Lukas. Adrian sniffed at the opening and his nose crinkled, it was definitely alcoholic. He debated for a moment how alcohol could affect him, before deciding that it wouldn't do any harm to drink it, especially if it was being offered to him.
"There's not much to say really, I mean you've nearly summed it up already!" Adrian said, flushing lightly and choosing his wording carefully. "I'm fey though, that explains the wings yeah?" He rolled back onto his stomach again, floating a few inches above the water and flapping the wings slowly to keep himself aloft. "Been travelling for a bit, figured this was as good a place as any to stop up for a bit. What about you?"

Lukis smiled in amazement at the spectacle before his very eyes: the way the man's wings fluttered about around his body was just so intoxicatingly beautiful, and in the sunlight the colours reflected like a rainbow shining over a waterfall. What made it even better was the man reached down afterwards and handed him another bottle.
Thankfully, he grabbed the drink and began guzzling the booze, all while watching and listening to the man.
"Ah," He breathed, "so you're a fey then. Well, what a surprise. I've never met a fey in my life. And let me tell you, my life is a pretty crazy one."
And so Lukis began to explain in his very own special way about his life, starting from square one with the conspiracy that sent him out of the army and into drinking, all the way to the current, where he was in Wildgard because he was lazy and didn't want to leave, all while spinning the blue and silver ring on his stubby index finger. He didn't even think twice about leaving out the story of him being a pirate captain and a Viking, but hesitated to tell the story of his multiple weddings.
Finally, he got onto the topic of his lost dog, captured by fire giants from the North. The subject turned his light mood into a dour one, and he let his bottle float away in dismay. How he longed to feel Thok in his arms once more.

Adrian kept up his floating, trailing one finger through the water as he listened to the other man's story. He explained where he came from, things he had seen and done. All was interesting to Adrian, who was still learning about humanity and its ways. The bottle dangled loosely from Adrian's other hand, the drink inside forgotten as he focused all his attention on Lukas and his stories. Perhaps he could learn a little more about the world he was stuck in.
As Lukas started to talk about his dog, Adrian's eyes widened and grew sad. He knew perfectly well how much an animal could be a friend, and the loss of such a friend must have been devastating. An idea crept into his head and he perked up slightly. "Do you think you'd be able to find your friend? Do you want me to help?" Adrian asked quietly.

The drunkard's eyes went wide with delight, almost hidden by his copious amounts of wrinkles and drenched curls. No one had in a very long time offered Lukis such help; usually, he was just the local drunk that needed to be chuckled at or given another drink to not become sober (one must know that when Lukis became sober, he was very prone to crying and apologising, as he believed he truly was guilty for being framed).
"You would do that for me? Yes, I accept! That is, if you're willing to enter a Fire Giant Kingdom and infiltrate their ranks in order to obtain him," he explained, swaying in the cool water.
Last time he attempted that, he lost his dog.
But he got cool Fire Giant powers out of it.
