Hidden deep within a forest far beyond the reaches of Wildgard was nestled a small cabin, so out-of-the-way that hardly anyone had known it was there, much less whether or not anyone had lived in it recently. It was built sturdily and cozily, and looked from the outside like a good place for a traveler to seek shelter in for a night or two.
Two young women with a shared affinity for the forest had done just that. Having left the confines of Wildgard and its surrounding area after the first blizzard had hit, they had travelled together until happening upon this cabin in the woods, and they settled in with the intent of having a warm place to stay over the coldest months of the year. The seclusion was ideal for them as well, for it meant they had all the more reason to sleep the winter away together.
Now, the month of April was drawing to a close. Warm sunlight filtered through the leaves of the trees surrounding the small cabin, and a few patches came in through the window, illuminating two sleeping bodies curled in close to one another. Their legs were woven together, and one had her arms around her partner. A cloak had been tossed over the pair of them like a blanket, although the smaller of the two had taken up most of it for herself; her companion had plenty of fur to help keep warm anyhow.
The blonde was waking up, and she could feel the embrace of two arms around her as her dream faded from behind her eyelids. Slowly and groggily, she opened one eye just enough to see what was in front of her. Lila's face was close to hers, their foreheads almost touching, her hair curling this way and that. With a soft chuckle, Idina closed the distance between their heads, touching her forehead and nose to the Kintu's gently.
After a few seconds like that, she took a deep breath and opened both eyes, glancing around their little cabin. The sun was coming in through the window to pool on the floor next to the bed, and it looked like it had been up for a while. Their daggers stood together in a corner, propped up between the wooden walls and Lila's overturned boots. A boisterous bird's call a little way's off was coming to her attention, and the wind was making the leaves whisper just outside.
The morning was starting very slowly, and that was just fine by her.

Sensations came back to her gradually, starting with the soft press of the edges of a familiar cloak against her fur. Her mind was still cast in subconscious, gently emerging with the sunlight that warmed her face. Somewhere, deep in the recesses of her mind, she knew that eventually she would have to wake up fully, but for now she could afford to cling to the last dredges of sleep. One ear flicked with the sound of a small laugh and her nose scrunched up briefly in response to soft pressure. A moment of confusion passed before she registered the solid warm weight against her arms and a smile curled the corners of her lips.
Lila's light brown ears flicked again as a bird called and the wind blew. Her brow furrowed slightly and she tilted her head just the tiniest bit back, only enough to catch the scent on the breeze. The faint odor of flowers and fresh green things carried with it and her face softened again, smile widening with the prospect of spring. Lying still, Lila listened for anything else outside the sturdy wooden walls, paranoia still creeping into the edges of her senses, a habit that would probably never entirely leave. All she heard was the small skittering sounds of the woods and its residents, and she relaxed again.
Still stubbornly refusing to wake up, or even open her eyes, Lila tightened her arms around the girl next to her and burrowed her nose into soft blonde hair, being always careful to not bump the other with her horns even if they were still spring-small. One ear flicked back again at a bird call and Lila happily soaked in the new warmth, both from the sun and from Idina curled in her arms.

A quick gasp passed through her lips as she felt the pressure around her increase a little, and she turned her head back towards the bed as she felt herself being pulled inward. Idina grinned to herself, her expression both amused and loving. Her poor Lila definitely liked her sleep; perhaps even a little too much, although she couldn't complain. Wake-up snuggles were the best part of the morning, and she didn't mind keeping it up a little longer than strictly just waking up.
She brought her arms around the caribou in an embrace, the fingers of one hand playing with her hair just below her ear, those ears that hardly ever seemed to be at rest - she understood that it was instinct to be cautious, but that didn't mean it wasn't nice to see her relaxed like this in the mornings. Planting a soft kiss on the tip of her girlfriend's nose, she drew herself closer to her. One more kiss was placed on her forehead before the blonde drew her head back a little bit to gaze at her face. A sleepy smile was playing at Lila's lips, and Idina couldn't help but copy it. She connected their noses and foreheads again, brown and white-gold hair mingling on the crowns of their heads.
"'Morning," she cooed. The Kinto might not be completely awake yet, she knew, but it was worth a shot to be polite.

Lila smiled wider at the soft greeting, both ears tilting forwards gently. She sighed lazily, burying her nose in Idina's hair and blinking her eyes open. "Morning," she mumbled, curling closer around the smaller girl in violently passive protest against the morning. She lifted her head and glared blearily, momentarily, at the sun dripping in through the window, gradually lighting up the cozy cabin the pair had called home for the winter. The sun played across Lila's face, highlighting her dark nose and white-spotted cheeks. She raised one hand slowly and lightly threaded her fingers through Idina's hair, smiling brightly at the way the sun caught the strands.
Lila let the hair fall back, before smoothing it off Idina's forehead and catching her face in the one hand that wasn't still pinned underneath the two of them. "How was your night then?" She asked, tilting her head to the side against the floor, tracking her eyes across Idina's face.

Softly giggling at the Kinto's expressions, the healer took hold of her cloak that had been spread out overtop of the pair and pulled it up. She hooked the hood on one of the little stubs of antler on Lila's head, draping the rest over her own shoulder. Her partner could avoid the morning if she wanted, but Idina wanted to welcome it as best she could.
She gently grabbed onto her wrist as she brought her hand out of her hair, leaning her face into Lila's cupped hand. A warm smile lit up her face when she heard her question. "I slept well tonight," she announced. "No dreams or anything, and I do actually feel rested!" Her grin grew as she spoke. Leaning in, she placed a quick peck on the tip of Lila's nose and didn't pull her face back much afterwards. "How about you?"

Lila snorted softly as Idina hooked her cloak over one of Lila's antlers and smiled at her response. "That's good then," She said softly, following Idina's face and pressing her nose to the other girl's. "I actually slept quite well, the spring helps I think." Lila smiled wider, one ear flicking and jarring the cloak from it's precarious perch on her antler. She shook her head a little, nose still pressed to Idina's, and snickered as she felt the cloak dislodge from her antler and slide down over their faces. "Why get up yet though," She mumbled from under the cloak, "'snot like we have anywhere to be yet, Wildgard's probably still quite damn from the melt." - THIS IS LILA I'M TOO LAZY TO SWITCH THE ACCOUNT AGAIN

Idina agreed, the springtime definitely helped one's mood in general. Through no lack of cuddles shared between the two of them or anything of the sort, this years winter had taken its toll on the flower girl's mentality, and she had grown quite irritable and much less responsive, some days not even really seeming alive at all. Thank goodness Lila had been willing to stay by her side regardless...
"It probably is," she muttered, thinking of how much snow had fallen on the city before they'd left. "It is still a week's travel to return, although I would not argue against staying here for the rest of the morning, at least..." The blonde pulled herself closer to her, curling up a little to complement the Kinto's position.

A wide smile broke across Lila's face at the smaller girl's words. "Staying here works, I can agree with staying here." She glanced around, if they were to leave today then a bit of packing would be in order, although Lila could not see much that would need to be brought with them. Idina's dagger of course, and her cloak. Lila's boots. Some of the food could probably be brought with them too.
As she woke up further, her mind whirred, running through mental lists of what needed to be done before they left, instincts supplying the necessity of getting rid of any trace they were there. Lila paused for a second. Did they really need to though? This was safer than the places she had stayed in the past. Her ears flicked and she spoke again. "Do we have to disappear completely from here when we leave?"

Idina was waking up properly as well, and the Kinto's question made her think now that her mind was ready for it. It was a very good question, and a valid one as well. She had gotten used to leaving little trace of herself behind as well, although this was largely due to her not having much to her name. It made sense to do it again now. Then again, she sensed that Lila might be fretting over these thoughts just a little...
Taking her tawny face in both of her habds, she brought her head up and kissed her on the forehead. "Relax," she murmured, bringing herself back down to give her a squeeze. "I doubt anyone will find this place for several years, though even if they did, a few things left behind would not set them off, hm? I mean, the pans over the stove were certainly not put there by us!" A musical laugh escaped her thin lips, and she rubbed her thumb against Lila's shoulderblade. "We can do our best, but we should not worry too much, alright?"
