As Idina spoke, her face becoming more animated, Cyndra knew she had touched on a passion. "You don't need to keep it up, but I'm certain the knowledge has not deserted you!" She chewed on her lower lip, a little nervous about asking the question on her mind. "Could you, maybe, teach me a little about flowers? I really enjoy meanings and the like, you see, and I do know a little about plants, but I'd always love to know more!"

Her words were true: Idina was sure she would still be just as good at arrangements as she had been for her most recent commissions, over the previous summer. "I could never let go of my knowledge in floriography, rest assured! A dear friend of mine showed it to me, so I keep it close." Even after happy memories had been stirred, every word Cyndra spoke further served to widen her own grin even further.
"Of course I could!" she cried, the excitement fixing her posture and giving her an almost proud air, save for her hands, which were held at her chest with the fingers interlocked like a child's. After this display, she thought for a moment; where could she start? "Perhaps we could walk along a little more, and I could show you what any buds we see mean? Pan'Ti does not have many flowers, but perhaps we could find some here?" Yes, she was sure she could!

Once she finished her statement, Cyndra relaxed a little. The blonde took her request with an excited air. Smiling widely, Cyndra's shoulders rose a little to accompany the happy feeling. "That sounds like a wonderful idea! We'll walk, and talk about any flower-plants we see, and if you can describe some flowers to me, I think I would have a reasonable chance of knowing what you are referring to." She thought her smile could not grow any more, but it spread to her entire face, lighting up her navy eyes with joy.

It did Idina's heart good to see someone look as happy as her companion did in that moment. It seemed to her she'd very much done the right thing in coming into the woods to escape the palpable uneasiness of the city!
"Alright, then! Perhaps we ought to go this way," she suggested, pointing to a lesser-used path in the forest, "otherwise we would be sending someone back where she came!" She held low-branches aside as she walked, keeping them out of both her own way and Cyndra's.
"You probably know this, but plants of all sorts can have meanings to them, not just flowers! Hmm... I believe I see ivy crawling up that tree. Ivy has the simple and fitting meaning of endurance and resilience!" Narrowly avoiding stepping on a bush with yellow buds, she gasped. "Oh! Watch your step here, I almost trampled a gorse shrub. Gorse represents love in all seasons. How sad it would have been for me to step on it! I remember seeing dandelions in bloom on the Lomash plains, and those are a symbol of flirtation. ...Am I going too fast for you?" They had come to a clearing by now, and she turned to face the brunette when she asked the question.

Cyndra giggled lightly as Idina began to shift branches aside, her eyes closing for a moment. Yet in that single moment, the blonde was already moving quickly, and Cyndra took a couple big steps to catch up.
Ivy, yes, she was familiar with the climbing plant. The meaning that Idina shared made sense, connecting well to the nature of the plant. Idina's concern for a bush that she had almost stepped on was mirrored in Cyndra's sharp intake of breath. She leaned in a little, taking a closer look so she could remember it better. The next plant Idina mentioned, dandylions... Cyndra knew well what those looked like.
Her thought process was interrupted as Idina turned abruptly. The brunette met Idina's gaze with wide eyes, a little surprised. "Oh! No, not at all!" Cyndra offered the other girl an encouraging smile. "I'm good at listening and keeping up!

The little healer grinned in response to the encouragement. "Alright! I just want to avoid speaking too quickly, so please let me know if I do."
She looked about, hoping to find some other flower or tree to talk about. "The flowering trees over there look like crabapple," she murmured, then spike again in a louder tone: "If those trees are crabapple, their blossoms tend to carry the same meaning as their tame cousins: a preference for something. That seems fitting for us, seeing as how we currently prefer the forest and its trees to the city, no?" She giggled at her own remark for a moment, proud to have made a connection there.

Cyndra glanced upwards to the sky as Idina turned away. The movement of the sun told her that she had been enveloped in nature for about an hour. It was time well spent, the brunette decided, looking back to her companion as she murmured something too soft to hear.
Wondering whether it was something important, Cyndra drew breath to ask, but the blonde was already speaking in a louder voice. She looked in the same direction as Idina, quickly catching sight of the trees she referred to. "Crabapple," she muttered quietly. So that's what they were called. She had seen the trees many times, but had never known their true name. As Idina connected their meaning to the girls' current situation, Cyndra let out a little laugh.
"Nature does not expect anything from you. Nor is it difficult to understand the whys of nature," she commented, a soft smile the only outward expression of the quiet joy that she found in the forest.

Wiser and truer words had never been spoken, the blonde decided. "I feel blessed to have grown up among the trees. I have met a couple of people who were raised in cities, and I find they cannot quite appreciate nature in the same way I do - and I assume in the way that you do, too."
Idina smiled and the brunette. She was happy to have found someone who appreciated the forest as much as her, and it helped a lot that Cyndra was very pleasurable to be around.

"Oh yes. I love nature. Always have. My parents instilled in me and my cousins a great respect for our environment - for the natural life that surrounds us now." She lifted her open palms to waist height as she spoke, then looked up to the leafy canopy above the two girls. Letting loose a soft sigh, Cyndra clasped her hands together and focused her gaze back on her companion. "It's all simply brimming with life, don't you think?"

"It truly is," Idina breathed. Cyndra's anecdote sounded similar to her own experiences, and she couldn't help but smile. "Your parents sounds as though they think the same way my father did. I am grateful for people like them!"
She looked around where they stood, at the trees that felt as though they stretched out forever - but she knew the forest of Pan'Do only reached so far. There were lands beyond Wildgard, far beyond, and while these woods went on for many miles with only a small section here, it was still a small wood. The forest she herself had grown up in had not been connected to this one at all. Different kinds of trees, different company, different atmosphere in general. "Did you grow up in the woods?" the blonde asked her friend - yes, she figured she could call her that now.

Cyndra smiled and ducked her head at the other girl's statement. Grateful... Yes, the brunette decided that she agreed. She had watched the way some other children who grew up in the town acted, and she had found herself unimpressed.
In response to the blonde's question, Cyndra smiled, touched that the other girl thought she was a child of the forest as Idina herself was. "Not in the woods, no, but a small town near a forest. Our home was on the outskirts of the woods though, and we spent much time within it."

"Well," Idina replied with a sparkle in her eye, "I would think that to be close enough! Trees make good company for children, no matter whether they live amongst them or simply close by!" She turned her body from the hips up happily, letting her skirt swish with her movement. Having someone to talk of her passion for nature to was absolutely delightful, and her gratitude and joy for it was manifesting in her actions.
"If my asking would not be strange," she added, slowing her swaying, "do these woods feel different from those you grew up in? I mean, Pan'Do feels different to me than the woodland I grew up in. From what you say, a large town was close to your forest, and I wonder if that is what makes this feel different."

Idina swayed happily, and Cyndra felt the blonde's joy manifest in her heart as well. Her smile widening, Cyndra took a moment to think about the question posed to her. "Yes. And no," she replied slowly. "Pan'Do reminds me of my childhood home as it is near a settlement. But… I think it also seems different because of who I am now and the experiences that I associate both with my old home and now Wildgard." The brunette looked intently at Idina. "Does that make sense?"
