It didn't necessarily matter exactly how small the forest was, as the trees themselves were big enough to provide cover for the hunter and his desires. Faljere sat atop a tree, patiently waiting for his next meal. In his past, he'd been only a vegetarian, as to him life was precious and worthy of existence. He had believed for the longest time that every life was a special story of its own, and to not soil such a perfect entity of being, he'd decided to not eat meat.
But now? Now, to him, life was just the incarnation of despair and hopelessness. The strong preyed on the weak, and in turn the stronger preyed on the strong, until finally the stronger would be submitted to endless armies of both strong and weak before being destroyed by both, in the process destroying all other pathetic life around them. Life was useless. Life had no meaning. It was an endless struggle with no way out but one: and once one had reached the end of this dark and dreary tunnel, they would finally find the peace that life had none of.
Even the smallest of rabbits and the largest of elk had no point to their lives apart from being preyed upon. This cycle would always continue. There was nothing Faljere could do to stop it, so why bother even trying when one could simply submit like what was the only appropriate action to do whilst waiting for the Wings of Freedom to appear on one's back and partake in the cycle?
There was a rustling, and the Clanless knew something was near, although what it was was still an enigma. Even with his elven eyes of farseeing, he could point out nothing particularly outstanding around him or below him.
It truly was a small forest.

Rintalia was taking a stroll through the forest. she didn't often get out these days since the bar patrons kept asking her to dance and sing, but when she did she reveled in the sunshine of the outdoors. a burst of energy surrounded her and she began skipping along, humming a tune quietly to herself, not a care for any creature that may think her their next meal. animals were generally more scared of you then you were of them. or so she believed.

There was another crackling of branches, which caused the Wood Elf to turn again. There! He could see something glittering. Curious as to what this new sight was, he slung his blade over his back and began walking forwards. Something of despair? Or one who thought they'd found hope. He'd figure this out for sure.
After only a few moments of walking, Faljere stopped in his tracks to see the face of the girl he'd seen many a time in the tavern where he spent most of his nights. Faljere had seen her, always flaunting her body in front of the sick, despair-ridden males as the Clanless warrior sat moping in the corner, staring into the flames. What was such a young, helpless girl doing all the way out here? Was she searching truly for despair?
Faljere drew his blade, however the will to even raise it to her was lacking: he seemed to have been overcome with sloth.
"Speak your name. What is your business here?"

When an elf appeared in front of her Rin stopped moving, she cocked her head to the side as the man drew his blade. she had seen him in the tavern many times though had never spoken to him. she hoped that she hadn't ruined a hunt. she had a tendency to do that when she went on her walks.
"my name is Rintalia, and i am simply out for a walk. what of you? what brings you to the forest today?"
she was curious. always curious, one day it would probably be her downfall.

Faljere kept his blade out, yet did nothing about it. This girl was certainly a curious one, wandering so recklessly into a forest where anything could attack her. Still, she did look like the type who could run fast were it needed. Faljere eyed her slightly, taking in her youthful and energetic air. Something about her screamed hope, yet at the same time, made Faljere realise there was no such thing.
The monk sheathed his weapon. "No hunt has been disturbed. There's nothing to hunt in these woods. But this place is dangerous. Lacking in light. Do you truly wish to remain here in the eye of danger itself?" He asked gravely.

Rin looked at the man in front of her and smiled.
"I simply came for a walk, these woods are peaceful and quiet, unlike the city. They remind me of the woods that I use to hide in as a child." She paused for a moment and looked at the trees above her. "No place is without danger. I am no more in danger here the. I am back in the tavern. The only difference is the type of danger. It is harder to predict what a drunken man will do then a wild animal cornered in its home."
Rin shook her head. She was unused to deep thought. Much preferring to think simply, things tended to be safer that way.
She could feel the hopelessness that radiated from this man, the sense of wanting to help him was gnawing at the back of her mind. She knew though, that many did not want her help. So she smiled and spun with her arms wide, revealing in the silence and dim light of the forest. Stopping she looked at the man, a gleam in her eyes. She would find a way to make this man smile.

The Clanless looked down on her: this girl, so young and full of life as she danced joyfully around, basking in the sunlight that peeked just barely through the trees above them. Something about the way she moved almost reminded him of a child without any care in the world, not even of an intimidating man with a blade nearly taller than himself standing in her path. She seemed cheerful, simply cheerful...what misery truly lied beneath that false smile?
All smiles were false, and sincerity was easily faked. Even in the happiest of people, nothing existed but despair.
Faljere loomed over her and intensely gazed at her.
"What misery indeed...?" he muttered pensively to himself, but loud enough for those around him to hear.

Rin cocked her head to the side and looked closer at the man in front of her. he was an elf, but his eyes were full of darkness. it made her frown, she hated to see eyes full of despair, sadness, and hopelessness. his eyes mirrored those of her sister, who she hadn't seen in ages.
"misery?" she asked curiously while looking at him, she hoped that he would elaborate.

This girl was definitely something else. The way she cocked her head to the side in curiosity...and how she spoke so clearly and without fear or desolation. Perhaps she didn't have misery in her, which would surprise the elf were it true.
No. It couldn't be true. All life was miserable until true sanctuary could be found.
"Misery. All those with a soul are bound to feel it. I am sworn to eliminate it." He spoke dully to her, having explained the concept countless times. "Loss, envy, greed, hatred, sloth...all concepts of misery."
