Night was a time to slip into an entirely new world. For some, a world of peace and tranquility. Others, a time of simple rest. For the elven monk, it was a time of torture and regret. As he awoke, he realised he was not yet awake at all, but simply put back in the 'dream world' that his mind took him to in his rest. He knew it was no normal plane of reality, or even part of his own cleansed mind. It had to be the Insubstantial Plane. Yet again, he was faced with the black rocks along the ground against a backdrop of colours, some unidentifiable to mortals such as himself. Above him, in the sky, a bright diamond moon shone against a darker ebon one. Off in the distance, a small patch of trees was left standing, surrounded by much debris and many ruins. To observe them would probably hold no benefit for peace, and so the elf began slowly walking towards the blackened woods, not removing his spirit-like hands from his large blade. I am now one with this world... He pondered to himself as he looked over his glowing blue body. And this world needs me. Why else would it always bring me back?

There were not many that were still tired to the parallel plane. The whole world had the map that the living knew. And then there was a separate map for the dead. They did not always align correctly, and th world appeared very different. Most living individuals could be seen and sometimes heard from the insubstantial plane if one concentrated on conjuring their image fully. However, they were most just 'warm' patches, the living could be felt, but were easily ignored. Many souls lost their sanity after a time of being tethered here. Although, it was impossible to say anything very solidly about 'time'. Little could be understood about this world; even by its inhabitants.
In her full spirit form, Joy's appearance didn't stay the same. Unlike in life, she could be described as a 'shifter' now. Sometimes, she would appear almost entirely human. Other times, merely a large rat. Strange combinations arose, of course, like when she had a rat head and human body, or was a rat with no tail and human hands. Combinations were endless, but she'd gotten used to the fluid shifting. Though she was able to control it at will now, she very rarely bothered. ...Unless, of course, there was a visitor.
Joy made herself appear mostly human, then, though she still had some rat-like features. She had a tail, and ears set far back on her human head. She didn't really have a clear form of clothing. Her body was more or less wrapped in tendrils and sheets of light blue 'fabric', though the outlines were not clear and the form shifted. Through the somewhat foggy air of the parallel lane, she approached the elven figure, and waited for him to speak first.

Off to his left, a figure advanced towards him, bearing similarities to a human female and a rodent, carrying with her a sense of disruption at the monk's presence. This was clearly not his own realm, as opposed to her, who seemed to be a regular here.
The elf quickly pulled his glowing blue hood over his head and drew his two-handed blade and let it fall to his side in a defensive stance.
"Do you know why I was brought here?" He asked the woman, who had just reached his spot. His voice, although similar to his own physical one, was also more resonant and shook the ground and air around him, even at such a low volume.

Joy raised an eyebrow at the blade in the elf's hand. Most on this plane could not be harmed. Pain was real here still of course, however death for its inhabitants was the past. Here, souls lived well beyond death. Often in misery and pain. So although she felt little fear, it was uncomfortable for her to think of the pain it could cause it it passed through her body. This wasn't the first visitor she'd encountered, after all.
"It is very rare for someone to be brought to this plane by someone else. Most either travel here through magics and freewill, or naturally through their own gift of communing with our world." she responded. While the stranger;s voice boomed, hers whispered, though still loud as though it were everywhere, coming to the elf's ears from all directions. It was a strange phenomenon in the insubstantial plane that every voice while not only sounding different, had its own effects. If one learnt how, they could control it just as they would pitch, tone, or volume. "I do not know if there was reason, or person, to bring you here. Are you certain you merely haven't developed the gift of a medium?"

The elf raised his eyebrow: what a silly question! He was certainly no medium, and if it were in his power he would not be in this dreadful and depressing place. As her voice echoed within his ears like a hushed blast from every direction, he raised his blade a little higher as he stared her down.
In the blink of an eye, his free hand rushed forward and placed itself just above her forehead, hovering for a few seconds. He closed his eyes and let his mind settle. Recently, he'd found a more reliable way to sense peace or a complete lack of peace than just a look in the eye, and had to find out whether or not it could be used on this plane.
His hand stayed above the woman's face for a bit, but to his surprise, nothing happened. With a disappointed sigh, he let his hands lower, along with his blade, back to his side. Nothing. He thought glumly to himself.
With a sudden billow from his cloak, he turned back to the forest and stared at the trees: most of them seemed to have grown larger than they were before.
The elf closed his eyes and raised his blade.
"I'm not sure what creatures we'll find in there, but I know who I will find in there. Make peace now, if you want to make it through alive." He told the woman as he stepped forward.

A soft breeze. Darkness covers the world. The light from afar glistening like a crystalline lake. How truly devious this world seems to an outsider. A mortal. But not to me. Not to one of her Champions. Here, I am at home. Here, I am free.
There is a man in the dark forest up ahead, a large blade drawn and at his side, trailing across the grassy surface of the Plane as if it were a body being dragged; behind him, a spirit resembling a rat and a human in one.
A fascinating encounter. Or at least, the Potential to be one.
He looks closer at the man, realising that protruding from his hair are the tips of pointed Wood Elf ears.
A grin. A low chuckle. A hefty roar. My prey at last. You have run far, but now you are in my world. Welcome, The Clanless.

Giving a crooked smile, she responded, "Then I've already failed? I'm not still living. In fact, I've been dead for over a century, by your living years. If you could releae me from my higher bonds to this place, I would gratefully thank you. However, I've accepted such as impossible from anyone lesser than celestial themselves..." Joy let her image shift instead to how she had looked when she was alive. Her features were entirely that of a rat, standing on her hind legs. A skirit. Taking a step back, her spirit glided much farther than a step would naturally take someone. She was unnerved by the strange character, and decided it was best to leave him to whomever he was searching for. Though she would continue to watch from a distance.
Then, she spotted the figure approaching. "This... is not peace. Do not let yourself believe that death is peace. But maybe, that figure over there will give you some peace, if only peace of mind from your search."

The Clanless wood elf watched as the spirit in front of him shifted into the form of a humanoid rat. He should have been surprised, or even slightly taken aback, but he remained there, unflinching and unimpressed. "Interesting dilemma." He commented about her death. "You seem to be stuck on a path of peace." He gave her a quick look over; yes, she was determined to find peace, especially after it had lost her after many years since her departure from the physical world. He knew when most people parted from the physical realm, they had already attained peace or had no way of finding peace in life and so had to be forced to find it in the afterlife, but this was a new situation completely. Either way, it was a chance to find peace for someone, and hopefully for himself. "Let's get through this forest first, see what there is to see."
Suddenly, she began speaking to a new arrival in this land. The elf spun around slowly, but his entire body locked up upon coming face to face with the entity approaching them with a wicked grin hidden behind his beaked mask and a large black cloak draped over his shoulders. His feather-like beard matched the black of his eyes perfectly; there was less colour and contrast on this man than even Faljere had, which made his pearl grin even more outstanding.
"What are you doing here, Raven?!" the wood elf demanded, raising his blade as his voice boomed in all directions like a powerful wind. "This is not your realm! Leave us be!"

Everything booms. Echoes. Reflecting like a mirror this true elf's emotions. Strange. He radiated like an emotionless soul. Now he shows it greatly.
The Raven looks into Faljere's eyes.
The Clanless has ran and hid. I knew him not unless this form confronted me. This grey, beautiful form of one filled with hatred. She will be pleased with me. This one has shown a lack of faith in his many years.
"I have come for you again, Clanless One." He whispers like a snake slithering into ears. "I cannot harm you hear myself, as I am also insubstantial, much like yourself. But alas! I can truly cause you spiritual pain, everlasting. This plane seeps with possibilities, especially when mortals such as yourself enter unarmed opposing those who naturally dwell in this place."
He wishes to help this girl. This mortal. I can allow that. I can't allow that. I shall let them pass.
"Yea, I shall let you both pass through these woods. But know this, Clanless: I will follow you to the edge of night until I find where your mortal body exists. There, in the dead world of the mortals, I shall end you, But until such a time happens, enjoy your stay here in my world. And if you can, help this woman. Help her until I come for you. And then, girl," he turns to her, "you will resume your search for an assistant."
And I shall reveal myself. And I shall aid you. And I shall find the Clanless.
The Raven disappears into the shadows, his green eyes almost remaining for a brief moment.
