Trees. Hills. Plains. Mountains. Rivers. Swamps. Ruins. There was really such an impressive collection of terrain in the land, Ukuko was quite impressed. He'd traveled quickly to these lands, as he considered himself allied with the Dauntless bears. They, well, didn't. Standing on his hind legs and as tall as he could, like a little kid trying to gain a few inches... he was about 5 feet and 5 inches tall. While most Ursanids were almost twice his height. Well, except Ursarius. Or, at least so he heard. He'd never met her, nor her brothers, before. As such, he knew he was not called unto war. It was doubtful the woman -- the Queen, he corrected himself -- would so much as know he existed. However, he had ties to the Elders of her mountain, and had known her father -- the one of birth. A great man, and greater bear. As such, he kept in contact. An ally, without being called one. It's not like he was really needed back home. What was left of his nearly extinct clan had moved to a remote location, farther up and deeper into the mountains. Ukuko's job was to find allies for what was left of his family. He was very young for a bear Elder, but one of the oldest his people had. They needed help. And one of the best ways to find allies, is be an ally.
But that was besides the point at the moment. The more important task at hand was trying to get that damn itch right in the middle of his back. He swayed his weight, and braced himself up against the tree to try and reach that unbearable spot. Although, without losing his balance on the branch he was standing on of course. For Ukuko the Spectacled bear was currently about 12 feet off the ground in own of the taller trees of the Pan'Do forest. While he believed the branch to be sturdy enough, he didn't have quite as much faith in himself.

Sarea had been careful in her journeys in the Forests around Wildgard ever since that disgusting dwarven thief had stolen her coin purse: if there was one thing Sarea hated most in the world, it was dwarves. They'd taken her homeland. Taken her friend to war. Taken her innocence.
Taken her wife.
To her, dwarves were good for nothing except starting wars and killing, and for that she felt the need to put and end to them. Even if it meant traversing the woods to find them first. Still, the woods were a dangerous place for a frail Wood Elf bard who didn't even know how to fight, let alone exterminate, another person. Her magic could temporarily stop them, or have them do her bidding, or appear insubstantial and unthreatening to those around her, but none of those spells could harm another person, and were only used for defense.
Defense was the word she picked after hearing a rustling from the trees above her. Looking up, expecting a harmless little squirrel, she smiled, only to have it disappear when she saw the short yet sturdy bear high in the trees scratching its back on the thick bark. With a moan, the bear showed off its canines, forcing Sarea to topple backwards and search her bag, fumbling around to find her wand.

A loud sigh escaped the bear's jaws as he settled back down onto his perch. He began to get comfortable again, licking the lips on his short, blunt muzzle. His stature was short and wide, his proportionately large head was long, but his jaw very short, planted on a very short and wide neck. Spectacled Bears are very different from the average bear; In fact, they're so different, they're closer to pandas than any other. He more or less looked like a wrongly coloured panda because of this, as the blonde markings on his face resembled their pattern.
Ukuko was quite relaxed, and from what he'd observed of the Lands of Wildgard, few ever ventured into the more southern Pan'Do forest, despite it's easy navigation due to a lack of dense underbrush. So when Ukuko heard a sudden thump on the ground below him, followed by frantic rustling, he immediately shuffled around in confusion to look at what it was. He saw a young woman on the ground, clearly distressed. Immediately, he sprang into motion, very quickly scrambling to the ground (as Spectacled Bears were the most skilled of climbers among their family). He advanced quickly to the woman's side at a near run, huffing between his slightly open jaw every time he exhaled.
When Ukuko stopped just beside her, he began to speak, but it started out more growls and clicks as he didn't often speak out loud when on his own, and he hadn't cleared his throat. "Excuse me, Young Lady, are you alright?" His voice rumbled, but not as deep as other bears. It held a whine to it, of sorts, and the blonde markings above his small eyes that formed his "spectacles" drew down into something resembling a concerned expression. If he hadn't been worried about her safety, he would have bolted in the other direction. The stout bear had little like for those on two legs that held none of the purest form of nature in their blood. In his mind, only Kintos were worthy of proper trust. However, he did his best to not let this bias run him, as all living creatures deserved to be cared for, especially when in need.

The bear stood over the young elf, it's spectacled eyes looking down at her with intent as she struggled. It took her a few moments, however, to realise its intent was to help her and care for her. Sarea stopped shuffling about in an attempt to defend herself just in time to stand up and respond to the bear. She'd seen a few animals around these parts speaking actual common tongue, but it still came as quite a surprise to her when the bear spoke a few words.
"I'm...um, alright. Thank you, kind bear." She replied, brushing the dirt and grass off her skirt. Honestly, she wasn't exactly 'fine', per se, as she was still shaken up about the bear, as well as other things. Dwarves, for example.
"Are you alright?" She asked curiously. She'd never seen this bear before in the lands, so he must've been new. But what would a bear be doing back here? There weren't many traces of the old clan she'd heard much about, nor any sign that bears were needed. Still, this one seemed definitely friendly, especially for a part of nature. To her, nature was the third most important thing, next to arts and love.
"What is your name?" She asked him in an almost birdlike whisper, still scared slightly.

The bear reared up on its hind legs, standing like a human. 'My name is Ukuko. I'm fine, thank you." he replied, a grin spreading across his short snout. It was a bit deterring, with the strange appearance it gave the bear. However, most of his teeth were rather dull, with only a puny pair of canines to show for his technically omnivorous nature. Beady black eyes looked the lady up and down, searching for a sign of injury. “Not hurt, I hope?” He didn't see anything that would indicate as much, so he continued with a different question, “So, what might your name be then?”

With the bear standing above her with its blunt canines showing and acting quite gentalmanly, Sarea smiled and gave him a curtsy. "My name is Sarea Riel Dirao, of the Wood Elf Dirao clan in Northern Briton. I'm a bard in Wildgard, not much else." Sarea paused her speech, trying to think if she had been hurt. Of course she was the most hurt she'd ever been for the past four years, but that's probably not what the bear was talking about. "I'm not hurt, thank you. Where are you headed?" She asked, trying as quickly as she could to change the subject.

"Well, I wasn't headed anywhere actually. You see, that tree I came down from just now was my temporary home." He pointed up to the branches with his muzzle. "The better question is where are you headed, maiden Sarea." Ukuko lowered himself back onto his haunches, looking up at the girl. He was more relaxed now that he could see she was an elf. He never really knew what to make out of elves sometimes, as they were strange and one one with the land itself, not a true force of nature like himself, and other animals and kinto like him. However, they were very in tune, understanding, and intelligent. They were both nature's child and guardian, and he was grateful for their existance, though confused by their strange ways and customs.

Sarea looked over Ukuko, a bit more easy with him, as he seemed to be quite a gentlemanly bear. With a bardic courtesy--as she always did to a newcomer in her life--she replied to his question in an airy voice.
"Every morning I wander these woods, but today I just so happened to be in a very bardic mood. Trees like this sometimes inspire me to compose music and write songs or stories. Today was one of those days, it seems. No real destination."
This was true: she'd been out for a few hours already, and her lute had seen much plucking, yet her voice had hit little notes. Either way, she felt now her path was to change: or at least for this one song.

A low rumble emanated from Ukuko's chest. It sounded kind of like a purr at first, but then fully developed into a laugh. 'That's one thing that will never change about elves, I suppose.' Slowly, he meandered back over to the tree he had come down from. His gait on all four pas was rolling and he had an air of calmness. "Well, I would love to hear something, if you don't mind." he replied over his shoulder, "Music does wonderful things for any soul." The bear then sat down on his haunches, leaning his back up against the wide trunk, and happily regarded the elf with his small glinting eyes. 'Some sensible company for once would be wonderful, I think.'

Sarea gasped at the request, as well at the low rumbling, but then closed her eyes and gave a faint smile: of course she would play a song for this bear. Sarea removed from her back attached by a rope her lute and began to tune each individual note before finally the instrument was ready to be played. She gave it a quick strum, allowing for her mind to search for a song to play to match the chord. F major...a very common key. Let's see what I know in that key...
Soon after the chord had been etched into her brain, she began to play a sweet melody in the same key, sounding as sweet as honey accompanied by lyrics as bittersweet and serene as a dream. She just hoped that the bear would appreciate the beauty behind the song 'Rest Now, my Warrior' as much as Jennis had when she sang it at her memorial.
