There was a cat down by the water. It occurred to the cat that she was likely not supposed to be there, but she really didn't care. It's not like many people pay attention to cats anyways, She thought as she lapped up the cool fresh river water.
A bird flew by, low by the water. Without regard Helen jumped without regard but she tripped over her scarf and fell into the river. Soaking wet the cat retreated shaking herself to get rid of any excess liquid. She mewed loudly a few times before laying back in the sun to dry off.

The sun was a wonderful thing.
Just the other day, the grass outside had been soaking wet with rain from the day before that. As much as Fyf claimed that they were able to stand wet ground so long as they knew beforehand that it would be wet, they had decided to keep within a set of walls yesterday and not bother with the wet ground at all. But today, not only had the sun taken all the excess rainwater from the ground, but it was still shining brightly, offering prime sunbathing real estate down by the river flowing just outside Wildgard City. Thus, the Kinto had decided to continue exploring the surroundings of the city that they had started to call home.
As it turned out, another cat was in the same spot, although this one seemed to be dragging themself out of the water. Fyf couldn't help but chuckle, perhaps a bit too loud; the poor thing must have fallen into the water, and something told them the scarf this cat was wearing might've had something to do with it. "Y'alright there?" they checked as they chose a spot to sit close to the riverbank.

Helen jumped up when she heard the laugh, her tail, ears, and hair all standing on end. She gave another "meow" before she saw the Kinto.
As a rule Helen tried to be cautious around most new beings. You never knew which ones were hostile, and this one seemed nice? Helen didn't really know. It wouldn't hurt to make a new friend, she had been so alone since Discord had left to the Demon Plane. Helen had wanted to go with Discord, but the young demon would not take the cat with her. So she was left in this world alone.
It was easiest to find out if someone was nice or not by approaching them as a cat. Helen calmly walked over to this new creature and started rubbing against their legs and purring softly.

Fyf chuckled again when the cat came up and started rubbing against their legs. They reached a hand over to let the cat sniff it - the Kinto often forgot which of their go-to forms of politesse came from human culture and which came from the animal side, but a lot could work either way - before reaching over to scratch between the cat's ears. "Hey there," they said softly, almost like a coo. "Nice to see another cat around here."

Helen sometimes forgot that there were other cats. Mainly because most cats weren't like her, including the Kintu ones. Rose certainly wasn't like her... Rose took the hissing battles far to seriously for Helen's liking. Here was this new Kinto, she had never seen them before which was strange. Helen made everyone else's business her business if she wasn't to busy doing other things. She continued to rub against the Kinto's legs wondering what would happen when they found out she wasn't they're kin.

Though they'd only been around non-Kintu cats a few times in their life, Fyf knew from experience that cats were nice animals to talk at; hardly ever could one talk to a cat, since one could never tell if it would listen to you. (They would always quietly claim that trait carried over into most feline Kintu, themself included). As such, while continuing to scratch and stroke the cat, Fyf began to talk, whether or not it was listening:
"Y'know, I haven't seen just a cat in a while. Or even a Kinto cat, really. I've spent years around other Kintu: racoons, deer, rabbits... Even some bigger animals. You gotta wonder how some combinations even happened, y'know? But yeah, it's been a while since I've seen another cat-like thing. Feels kinda nice."

They thought that she was a normal cat! Helen snorted, which sounded really strange coming out of a cat's nose. She wondered what this new creature was doing here. Surely most cats don't like going for a swim! Helen only liked swimming in her dragon form, it dried more quickly and made bigger splashes. She decided to get a better vantage point on this Kinto, jumping up onto their shoulder and perching there.

A surprised noise escaped the Kinto's lips when the cat jumped up, landing on their shoulder. "Heh," they snickered once they'd composed themself again. "Good thing I left my daggers back at the Reach, huh? Otherwise you'd have nowhere to perch up there." One of their ears flicked as the cat's whiskers brushed against it. Carefully, they reached up with the opposite hand as the occupied elbow, reaching toward the scruff at the back of the cat's neck. "Sorry, little thing, but I'm gonna need you to get off. This is the best time for sunbathin', and you and I both know you've gotta be lying down to do that." Fyf hadn't taken hold of the cat yet, waiting to see if it was just a regular cat, or if it heard what they had said and would get down itself.

Helen had no intention of getting off this Kinto's shoulder. It was far to exciting up there, so she mewed in protest and dug her claws into their skin.

A high-pitched noise escaped Fyf, more out of surprise at the sharpness of the cat's claws than of pain. Those claws didn't have many layers to go through in order to reach their skin, which probably made it easier to prove the cat's point: this furry little thing wasn't about to get off. With a sigh, they leaned their weight back, resting their hands on the grass and shifting their weight onto their arms. "And just what are you plannin' on doin' up there?" they asked. "Huh?" Playfully, they shrugged the shoulder the cat was perched on.

Helen was planning on seeing the world from a nice vantage point. Also to be carried, she liked being carried. She had warm fuzzy memories of hiding in Discord's bag. Helen really missed Discord... She released the kinto from her claws, and jumped down. Helen then bowed her head in apology. Remembering Discord had made her remember manners and also what it's like to have friends.

"Thaaat's better," Fyf said with a chuckle when the cat jumped down. As soon as they were able, they lifted their arms up to their head and leaned back, letting themself land against the grass. After lifting their pelvis so as to make their tail's position more comfortable, they sighed comfortably and squinted up at the sun, relishing in its warmth.
After a second or two like this, they turned their head towards the cat. "You'll wanna get over here," they suggested. "This is some nice sunbathing weather, and I've found a sweet spot."
