Jay was standing in the Silverscale's kitchen, shirtless. Ashen had been killed the night before and was resting from being revived so there was only a small chance that she would check up on him. He looks down at his chest and stomach, staring at the scars as he starts to trace them, Alex, it was a reminder for Jay that no matter where he would run Alex would eventually find him. Jay looked around at his surroundings. Although he knew that Silverscale was his home, Ashen his mother, he felt that it may be best to leave soon. He couldn't allow Alex to find him here, couldn't allow Alex to hurt his mama.

Ashen eyes slowly opened as she heard some slight commotion in the kitchen, her muscles ached from Rigor mortis, slowly she rose to her feet wrapping a large fur blanket around her. Leaving fallen asleep in her room.
Slowly she made her way down stairs being carful not to fall. Any more injuries to her and everyone would freak. No one besides fallen and jay knew she was alive again. Last thing she needed to do was shock her scale mates to death.
Walking to the bonfire she took a seat near the warmth of the flames, her body refusing to warm up properly. She looked around, her eyes locking on a familiar person in an Unfamiliar state.
"Jay?" Her voice was quite but loud enough to be heard over the crackling flames, her eyes locking on lines upon his chest.

Star groaned as she went over the papers that littered her bed, the floor, and the one sheet that actually stayed on the dresser. Her room was nice and easy to maneuver around but she needed out, she needed food, water and maybe some more sleep. She hadn't left her room since Ashen, Jay and herself had gotten back from their trip... her mind was still racing about it.
As she exited her room she brought an arm up to block the light from hitting her eyes, she had been in the dark for a bit longer than she had thought. Quietly and cautiously trying not to run into anyone else in the Scale she made her way to the kitchen. Star grabbed a glass but dropped it when she saw Jay, his chest. The glass shattered at her feet and she jumped back snapping out of her daze. "J-Jay wha-what.." She looked at him with confusion and studied the marks that littered the male.

Jay's head snaps up and looks between the two females. 'No" He thought. 'Ashen wasn't suppose to find out.' His eyes start darting around the room, looking for something anything that may be able to cover his scars maybe a way to get around either Starfire or Ashen and get away but he saw nothing. Instead he started backing away towards the wall. 'LOOK FOR A WINDOW' his mind screams at him "CLIMB OUT OF A WINDOW' though he doesn't think that would work. Instead he answers in a small, meek voice "yes?"

Ashen slowly rose to her feet, looking at the scarred name in her sons flesh. 'this must be something to do with his past he started to tell me about.' she thought. he gaze moved to his face, he was panicking. hiding it well enough but still panicking. seeing him look around desperately, she simply walked over slowly. once she got to him, she draped the fur she was using to keep warm over his shoulders, holding it closed around him until he took the furs.
"its getting colder outside you'll get sick walking around like that." she said with her normal motherly smile, bring no attention to his scars. if he wanted her to know he would tell her after all. she shivered, was it really cold in the building or was it just her. keeping her smile she grabbed a near by clean stein, fetching some water and moving back to the fire pit. "come and join me when your done, son. i wouldn't mind your company, your welcome to come sit too Star."

Jay hesitantly takes the fur knowing his mama is cold but it being the only thing to cover his chest and nods. He hadn't meant to stay downstairs for so long, only long enough to get a drink and some food. He looks at Ashen's eyes his filled with sorrow, he'd have to leave sooner or later but he didn't want to. He finally had what he wanted, a family and friends and he'd have to leave that all behind soon. "I'll join now" he says softly

Ashen smiled as her son agreed to sit with her, she wasn't foolish. Something was as twanged about the scared name on his chest. Though everyone had there scars, her lose shirt exposed portions of her back as she moved, revealing horrible burn scars and cuts on her back, that had long sense healed.
Everyone had there scars, all of them stories, some of tragedy, heroism, sadness, pain or glory. She took at seat at a bench and waited for her son to join her by the fire.

Starfire took a sharp deep breathe and averted her eyes to the broken glass on the floor, picking up the pieces and throwing them out before grabbing a new glass and getting some water for herself. She wasn't all up for joining in conversation but she felt the need to so she calmly walked over to where Ashen had been sitting, joining her.

Jay followed Ashen to the fire pit, sitting right next to her and keeping the fur wrapped tightly around him. He was an idiot for thinking no one would be down here, though Starfire's reaction had been interesting. He took a look at her, once again thinking that she looked familiar, from where though. He shook his head in attempt to stop trying to figure it out, it just gave him a headache and looked at Ashen again.
"So what are you doing out of bed mama? you should be resting" he said.

"i couldnt sleep, night terrors. thought i would come down for a change instead of thinking about my past." Ashen leaned back on her seat.
"heard some noise, thought i would come check it out. turned out to be you..." she said as she looked at jay once more. "what are you doing up?"

"Couldn't sleep, not after everything that happened." Jay replied. It was true, after Ashen had died he couldn't sleep. It didn't help that his scars were burning while Alex's voice taunted him, telling him it was his fault Ashen had died. It was hard for him to even look at her now even though she had returned to them. 'It IS all your fault, she's most likely is having a hard time even looking at you right now, ashamed that she gave you her last name when you're such a failure' Alex spoke before harshly laughing. Jay quickly shook his head trying to silence Alex. He looked at his mama, she didn't look ashamed but perhaps she was good at hiding it.

looking back at her son she smiled. "after everything that happened? oh you mean...my..passing? ugh i cant even say that right." Ashen sighed as she turned her gaze to the fire. her body still felt so stiff and cold, how long would she have to wait before things would return to normal, what was normal anymore.

Jay nodded slowly before turning back to the fire. "I'm sorry Lady Ashen..." he said in a soft, low voice hoping she would hear his words.

Jay looked at Ashen with tears in his eyes. "I failed you, I'm part of your household, you were kind enough to give me your name and I failed you, you died. I am suppose to protect you and I failed" he said grief heavy in his voice.
