The tavern was lively and bustling with a heady midday sun streaming through the window panes. Combined with the homely fire in the hearth, the tavern was a wonderful toasty restbite from the unwelcoming streets of Wildgard. In one of the dusty swatches of light by a window, Aalis was leaning on the bar. Her stool was tilted forward on two legs, and her tail was swaying behind her, the tip twitching occasionally. She had been sitting in this particular patch of sunlight for just under an hour now. Just barely shifting her stool every once in a while to follow the sun as it passed through the sky. In front of her was a half empty flagon. She picked it up and swirled it, watching the bubbles and dark patterns swirl through it. She honestly wasn't entirely sure what she was drinking, but it was hitting her much harder than the ale she'd had in the glass before. The vague thought of asking Thoror or another barmaid what it actually was crossed her mind, but she shook it off. She smiled somewhat crookedly, the right side pulling up slightly farther, showing a faint dimple beside her birthmark and mole.
It was an odd marking, and when she was younger, she had hated it. But in time, she'd started to like how the mole accented her face. And after a while, she even got used to the brown patch of skin around the mole. When she was in full feline form, it was a small patch of brown fur beside her muzzle. But in human form, it was relatively faint, and most would only notice it once they were already distracted by the mole itself.
The kinto's thoughts continued to wander like this as she gazed around the tavern. Aalis had planned to only drink one weak flagon, but obviously that was long past. Having not seen anyone in Wildgard recently was tarting to bog down her mood. The melting snow and random short rains had kept her from venturing out into Pan'Do to keep teh company of the Valourie and the other Amazons. However, Guile had less qualms than her about the currently soggy state of Wildgard, and so he'd still been going out to hunt and wander. In the end, she'd been spending most of her time either up in their room composing poetry and songs. Hence why she'd wandered down into the tavern to feel a little less cooped up.

Ashen walked into the tavern, walking straight to the bar. "barkeep i would like something strong please." takeing a seat beside a swishing tail kinto. she looked at the rather pretty yet obvious intoxicated female. she remembered seeing her with jay many a moon ago. for once though, ashen desired she would be friendly.
"hello, fine drink tonight?" she asked hoping maybe this female would be talkative

Aalis turned her head towards the woman who had come up beside her. Usually, she would be somewhat suspicious of strangers in Wildgard, but between the alcohol and this stranger being another female feline like herself, she merely gave her crooked smile. As the woman sat down beside her and, Aalis flicked the woman on the shoulder with her tail gently.
"Certainly so." she replied, "If you get the same drink as myself, whatever this is, I'm sure you'll like it. I'm quite pleased myself, actually." As she finished speaking, she brought her flagon to her lips. In doing so, she lost her balance slightly, and her stool set down harshly on all four legs with a thump. She laughed and wiped a trickle of alcohol of her chin that she'd spilled, glad she wasn't wearing her nice white blouse. Licking her lips, she turned back to the other woman. "I'm Fairclaw. Would you like some of my patch of sunlight? I admit, I've been hogging it all to myself." She rose slightly, motioning that she would move over to make space in the warm patch from the window.

Ashen smirked at the little mishap with Fairclaw's stool. the Barkeep gave her her stein with her favorite hard ale. take a sip she clawsed (paused) as she offered sunlight. it was ages sense she sunbathed.
"normally i would say no to "sunbathing" with a stranger but i have no things on me worth stealing and today has been, well insane. so why not. its not like it can get any worse" with her stein she moved her seat to the other side of Fairclaw letting the sun envelope her.
"hmm it is quite warm. i had almost forgotten how warm the sun is without wind" ashen closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth.

"I see little that could go wrong from a sunbathe," Aalis replied cooley. 'Well, so long as Guile doesn't show up... Though, at least she doesn't have any valuables.' The warrioress watched the other kinto with interest. The woman had tilted her head back and closed her eyes. It gave her a chance to study her face for a moment, and Aalis realized she recognized the stranger for some reason. She tried desperately to figure out why, but ended up looking away with a tinge in her cheeks, embarrassed for staring. She didn't want to make things awkward if the other woman caught her staring...
"So, I didn't catch your name in return," she stated after a moment longer.

"My name?" ashen questioned.
Ashen felt no need to hide her name to this Soul. "my name is Ashen" she said as her jade eyes locked with Fairclaw's. Ashen felt content in the sun's warmth, so much so she wished to go into her birth form and enjoy it further. however she wasn't home and she was definitely not alone. this option wasn't going to play out, she regretted. Ashen turned her gaze forward to look at the empty space the barkeep once stood.
"I'm sure 'fairclaw' isn't your first name, what is your title?" ashen questioned taking generous gulps of her ale.

"Title?" she laughed, "I don't have any of those. Nicknames and slurs maybe. Fairclaw is the only name I've ever given myself, it's a combination of my parent's last names. I was born as Aalis, raised as Handmaid, then called Ally Cat along other more slanderous terms, before returning to the first again recently. If you find any of those unsuitable, feel free to decide upon your own. Though, please do tell me what it is, or else I might not respond."
Aalis had a ruddiness to her cheeks as she babbled. by now she was smiling at Ashen and leaning forward on the counter. Idly, she was playing with the necklace around her neck that had once belonged to her mother.

"Aalis? That a pretty name." Ashen spook softly as she took another sip of her ale. She was enjoying the warmth of the sun for once. Desiding she was going to stay a while she undid her clock and set it at her feet. Along with her weapons. As ashen went to take another sip she noticed Aalis playing with her necklace. It was quite the trinket.
"Did you get that charm from a former lover? Or parent? If I may be so bold to ask?"

"My mother," she replied, "Long past now. She got it from my father when they first met. She never took it off, even after he disappeared. The only time I had ever seen her without it... was... her last night." Aalis looked away, suddenly distraught. She wore very little that wasn't of some sort of sentiment, they she rarely ever spoke of it. The alcohol was making her speak, and her head spun too much to care. "She gave it to me then. She told me, it would give luck... that I would find someone like her Tommen... I was nine."
She gave Ashen a watery smile. She wasn't sure what it was about her, but Aalis felt safe. She could trust this one, though she wasn't yet sure why.

"A gift from your mother? Must be nice." She commented as she finished her ale. Wavering at the barkeep for 2 more drinks, one for herself and one for aalis.
"So what brings you to the tavern today?" Ashen quested as she stretched, stunning the cold from her skin.

Aalis sighed. "Well, really, it's the fact that nothing brings me FROM the tavern. I've been staying here, upstairs in one of the rooms, all winter. Now the land is soggy and dreadful, and no less dangerous..." She took another deep drink. She gulped it ravishingly now, not caring how intoxicated she became. "I wish there were places for me to go in Wildgard where I wouldn't fear to get myself or my parter killed.. So far all I've found are the Amazons. However, I couldn't ever be among their ranks if it meant leaving Guile behind..."
It felt like a sharp twang in her chest. She was so torn. However much she wished to truly join with Valourie, she knew it was safer for her and Guile if she didn't clutter her heart and mind with other duties as well. Swearing herself to anyone else would be lying. But so long as Valourie and the other amazons were willing to keep her around anyway, she was glad. Though she would take no oath, Aalis would do her best for them so long as she felt it was right.
"What about you? Hasn't a girl like you have better things to do, and safer places to be?"

"aye I do, however once and a while I like to silence my old memories with ale. gives me a moments peace once and a while being leader of the Silver Scale and all. as for safer...sweetie your in wildgard, if you find a haven that isn't my house let me know." Ashen said with a bit of bitterness, the Ale was kicking in now. her cheeks began to rose slightly. Ashen thanked the Barkeep when the two ales where placed in front of her, sliding one in front of Aalis she held the other in her hand.
"so you know the Amazons? and Valourie huh? tell me Cat, should I fear them?" ashen turned her gaze to Aalis watching her out of the corner of her eye.

With a raised eyebrow, Aalis stared at the woman for a moment. 'She's a leader of some sort of Guild...? The Silverscale... I've only heard of it thus far...' She gave a sweet admiring smile. "Only a strong woman leads." she complimented coyly, "Though I'm sure it can get stressful. Releasing that tension is very important, I'm sure..." With sparkling eyes, Aalis wondered about what this woman's life was like. How many people were in this guild? Did she always keep to herself? Was she closed off? Or... open, to more intimate friends...? Questions fluttered through her drunken mind, mixing with the questions Ashen has just given her. She took a gulp of her ale, and nodded.
"Of course they're to be feared. Strong women like that deserve respect, and there's no higher respect than fear. However, not their intentions. They are good, led by Valourie. I quite like her, actually..." Colour rose to her cheeks as Aalis thought about the beautiful, glowing queen of the amazons. At the same time, she was still so curious about this other feline. Thoughts drifted in and out of her head, making her smile at Ashen almost shyly now.

"it is stressful but I lead my people with kindness and fairness, never fear. I let my enemies know that well enough." her words smooth like honey as she smirked taking another sip of ale."i would rather earn respect then force it from my followers. I don't treat family that way." she looked Aalis in the eye, leaning against the bar with her arm resting her head on her wrist. her cheek very rosy now.
"I only ask about the Amazons because they live near my house. I need to know if I need to watch them closely or not. i rather not make enemies" she started to play with her mane. like she always did when she started to drink. as she noticed Aalis smile shyly at her she couldn't help but smile back. "you have a very pretty smile"
