Ashen sat on a lower branch, 18 ft in the air. looking down at a Smaller Female who lay there sleeping. Her hood was up as she rested her arm on her knee. This, 'pup' had been near her Silver scale for quite some time. She had saved her Twice when the Elves stole the herbs from wildgard, and kidnapped ashen. Forcing her to sacrifice her mane, to keep those the loved safe.
'who are you?...what are you?...why are you here?...where is your home?' where but some of the questions drifting in circles within ashens mind. A sling of Dead Rabbits over her shoulder hanged, swaying in the wind.

Melora had been on the run for years, and this was the first place she had been able to really rest in almost a month. She had not been expecting to stay this long, but he found this place comforting. The elves had not found her as of yet and for the past week she had been there, she had awoke to find fresh meat and other food. She wished she knew who was leaving them so that she could give a proper thank you, but the mysterious person never showed while Melora was awake. She shouldn't be staying much longer anyway; if she stayed too long the elves would be able to track her down easier. For the moment however, she rested in peace.

Ashen simply watched, as she had for nearly a week. listening to the forests song, the wind teasing her hood to fall. slowly, taking the rabbits from her shoulders she lowered it as low as she rope would allow, letting them land with a quite thud.
'at least your eating...it smell rain however. maybe its time we met' Ashen thought to herself. staying as silent as an assassin, stocking its next target.

Melora awoke quickly when she heard the small thud in front of her. She had trained her body to wake at any noise; it was a good skill to have when you were running. Sitting up she looked around at her surroundings. Everything else was quiet and there was no sign of any visitors; except for the rabbits that were sitting at her feet. Glancing around again to make sure she was alone, Melora picked up one of the dead animals and used her sharp teeth to peel away some of the fur. She didn’t want to eat too much right now; she would be leaving today and needed the food to last. Who knows when she would have the luxury of hunting. She heard a rustle above her as she was about to take a bite and immediately went on guard. Dropping the rabbit and standing, Melora looked up to see two eyes staring at her; they were jade in colour and looked more feline than human.

"Sleep well?" Ashen asked, keeping still to not pose a threat to the girl. her only movements was her slow hand, moving up to her hood and moving it down. Her short hair swaying in the calming winds as she looked down at the Kintu girl, with kind eyes.
"hello, Girl who Gets caught by Elves." Ashen Smiled, hoping her comment would jog any memory she would have misplaced. Ashen head tilted slightly as she noted the girls stance, it was off. she would have to show her the right way to fight it seemed. straightening her head again, her look never faltered from kindness. a look, a mother would give to a child.
"i see you like my Gifts, wouldn't want you to starve or get cold. your aware a storms coming, right? why haven't you built a shelter? do you not know how?" Ashen questioned still within the tree, not wanting to scare the little 'Pup' off.

"It is not that I do not know how. I can smell the storm approaching. However I do not plan to stay long and did not want to use up resources that did not belong to me. No point in building a shelter if I don't plan staying long enough to use it."
Melora relaxed her stance slightly, enough to show she was not a threat, but not enough to be caught off guard. This being was showing her kindness now, but Melora was not sure yet whether she could trust the other Kintu. "How do you know me? and about my unfortunate run-ins with those blasted elves? I have never met you before now and yet you act as if you know me. I want to know why."

Ashens eyebrow raised. Clearly the girl forgot who she was, slightly insulted ashen dropped down, so she wasnt looking down at the poor creature. adjusting her cloak as she stood again, she looked at the pup. "i was the one who released you from the elves, twice...remember? back when i took my peoples herbs back, and when you got caught in the town. i have also been following you scene, i have killed 1 elf who nearly jumped you in your sleep." Ashen didnt take any steps toward her. the light now hitting Ashens features with a pleasant glow.
ashen placed one fist on her hip, tilting her head slightly. "the Storm will be a few days. you cant outrun it. you have no where to lodge? i have food, water and shelter. all i ask is you help take care of the place while your there. you can leave if you want, after the storm leaves. If those elves are still here, they would use the storm to there advantage. this would also get them to lose your scent for a while."
Ashen hoped she was at least a rational thinker.

Melora suddenly collapsed on the ground, tears in her eyes. She was so overwhelmed by the kindness of this stranger. She remembered being freed by someone, but she didn't remember the face until now. Melora knew that she would not be able to outrun the storm; and she always knew that the rain would help to hide her scent for a while. Sitting back against a nearby tree she once again looked up at the kind creature who was still watching her with curious eyes. "Why are you helping me? I am just a runaway, no one special or important. Why would you have any reason to protect me? You look like someone who has a family to take care of, so why would I matter?" Melora closed her eyes, willing the tears to stop when she thought of her parents.

Ashen walked over to the pup, crouching down to be eye level with her.
"because no one deserve to be held captive, when they are an animal ment to be free. i know your a kintu, i know you are a person who needs help. if no one give it to you, what will happen? youll become another cold being in this world in lands that are already cold. you are right, i do have a family to take care of, which i do every day. if my adopted son saw you, and not helped i would be disappointed in him. we HELP those who deserve it. you only look like a prisoner, not a criminal."
Ashen rested her hand gentle on the girls shoulder. "you look like you need guidance, who better to give some, then a scout." Ashen smiled. it was warm and motherly, the same she would give to Jay, or Luxley her boys.
"i am Ashen Windsong, Leader of the Silver Scale House. i formally invite you to stay as long as you need. all i ask, if you return the kindness my family will give you. help us as we help you, and you will find you have become stronger then you could have ever been alone."

Melora opened her eyes and met the girl's gaze. "Thank you for being kind to me. I'm sorry if I seem ungrateful or wary; I haven't experienced much kindness in my life. But I would be honoured to be a part of your home." Melora sat quietly for a moment, debating whether or not to share more about herself. She didn't know why, but Melora trusted Ashen and she decided that it was okay to open up to her. "I do not mean to be distant or unaccepting of your kindness. Like I said, I have not been treated kindly by anyone since I was child. Both of my parents were killed when I was young, and they were the only ones who ever showed me love. My family was taken away from me. I have always been alone, and if I didn't take care of myself, no one did. So I don't mean to be so distrusting and suspicious; I'm just not used to having someone else look out for me." Melora gave a small smile, a look that truly showed how vulnerable she was.

Ashen smiled back at the Pup when she finished her story. "you and i are alot alike. i have a similar story, i know what its like to not trust anyone. im not insulted, as a matter of fact, i praise you for being smart. you need to be to survive." Ashen reassured her.
"i am...sorry you had to live a hard life, losing your loving parents. its a great lose indeed and i wish you happiness from here on out." Ashen smiled again feeling guilty slightly she wasnt being completely open to the wolf.
taking in a sigh, showing she really didnt want to say this she began."when i was young my mother trained me and my sister to be assassins, and one night she kidnapped me instead of my better sister, setting the house ablaze. and after that 30 plus years, i was her assassin slave. i know whats it like to fear people, even ones you think you know. however i can promise you, i dont hurt you. i know your pain, i know it well."
Ashen stood slowly, adjusting her bow as she rose. she looked around the pups camp. "do you have much to pack? the air has gotten colder, are you able to walk or are you still tired? we have quite a walk, all the way to the other side of Pan'do"

Melora stood and brushed the dirt off of her ripped pants. "the only things I have are the clothes on my back and the rabbits you so kindly left for me. I learned early on that carrying many things made it more difficult to travel. And when you need to be able to leave quickly, it is better to carry only what is necessary. In my case, I did not require much. I should be alright to walk; any aches I had seem to have faded. A good sleep will do that." Melora gave Ashen a sad smile, "I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I can only imagine what it must have been like to grow up that way." Without a word, Melora wrapped her arms around Ashen in a comforting hug. "Thank you again. Your kindness means the world the me." Melora said quietly. Taking a step back, Melora took one final glance at her makeshift camp. Grabbing the rabbits from the ground, she took a deep breath. "Alright. Let's go."

"thanks...i think i turned out alright" Ashen jested making a silly face for a moment. Suddnely the pup hugged her, Ashen eyes widened at the sudden embrace. this Girl bearly knew her, and she was comforting her. she how know the same pains of losing loved ones, a stranger in her eyes. yet she comforted her. Slowly ashen Returned the hug. "thank you."
allowing her to take a step back, she took off her cloak and wrapped it around the pup once she had gathered her things. "its getting colder, dont want you getting sick." Ashen smiled, and motioned for her to follow. if it started raining she would transform and run her to the scale. "so, Got a name?"

"My name is Melora. It means 'golden apple'. My parents..." Melora choked on her words. "My parents named me because of my fur; not many dire wolves have golden fur like mine. And also because my father loved the phrase 'the apple never falls far from the tree'. Even as a child, he always said I was strong willed and determined, just like him and my mother. I was their apple." Melora sighed, and took a calming breath. "You know I never cried for them. I always told myself to be strong. I had to focus on staying safe; there was no time to grieve. It is only now that I do not need to run, that i feel the loss."

"being able to grieve and carry on when your parents can not, is strength. you have been running so long you havent been able to rest properly and move on. you are strong, and they would be proud. take solace in that fact" Ashen looked back at Melora as she walked.
"Melora..." she let the name roll of her lips. "it suits you. My name was given to me, because i was born dead. my skin was a greyish color, but i lived. From the ash's i rose, like the legendary phoenix." Ashen looked forward holding a branch so it wouldnt hit Melora as she passed. As they continued ashen spoke. "Apples are my favorite." She looked at Melora, and winked.
