Ashen finally lead Fallen out of town. the snow seemed to shimmer in the moon light, even with the harsh winds. she stopped still holding her cloak closed to keep the harsh wind out. she turned to see if Fallen was still behind her. where the devil was he? i guess wearing black when you are an assassin has its perks. she sighed "Fallen? you there?"

Now that the dim light of the town was behind them, the drow was able to relax. Like shadow himself, he easily blended into the darkness, melding with it as if they were one in the same. In the night, even the white of the snow or the pale moonlight could affect him.
"I'm here." He answered her, pulling up beside her. Despite his gladness that the sun was now gone, that didn't change the fact that it was bitter cold. Pulling his cloak tighter around him, he trudged along beside Ashen.

She jumped when he announced his location, he was closer then she thought. She looked at him and smiled nervously "you blend in with the shadows well your lucky the wind was behind me I couldn't smell you at all! You where beyond my sight, please don't make a habit of that with me" she said more in a question. She liked knowing where he was. She continued to walk down the path, winds picking up. Man this storm was getting bad. She looked at fallen once more trying desperately to keep her cowl from flying off " are you sure your shelter will be ok in a storm?" Her voice was full of worry. What if he was frozen by morning?

"I'll try to be careful. I suppose I'm just used to moving with shadows." Normally he took pride in the fact that he could move without being seen. He could pass through entire cities without anyone laying an eye one him. This was the first time he had to try and do the opposite with someone.
"I should be fine. My camp is rather sheltered from the wind." Even after their conversation in the tavern the worry in her voice still caught him by surprise. Someone actually cared about him. It was an odd feeling. "And if it gets to cold I can always go back to the tavern." He had no intention on staying in the inn. But sitting inside and warming up was not out of the question.
"Is your home much further from town?" The lights of the town were already rather far away.

"ya its a bit more of a walk but we will be there soon, and you can always stay with me if you wish to save some coin" she voice sounded a mixture of worry and defeat, he was going to be out here in this weather? what was he thinking? she knew if she kept offering, he would just keep turning her down, but she couldnt help but worry. in weather like this she would let almost anyone come in, almost... she wind picked up agian blowing her cowl off and pelting her face with snow. a low growl grew from the throat, like an ally cat when standing his ground. as if the wind took it as a challenge is blew harder, almost hard enough to knock someone down. Instantly she raised her left arm and her wing stretched to cover her, and as a result she covered Fallen as well. "im getting really sick of this wind...." she sounded completely annoyed. the wind was becoming a pain.
when the Wind finally died a moment later, her eyes widened...she used her wing...shit! she cursed to herself keeping her eyes forward, now she was scared on how Fallen felt about it...i mean really who heard of a feral cat with wings!? would he be disgusted by the fact she was an abomination? keeping her attention forward, her feet felt like lead. she couldn't seem to move aside from placing her wing under her cloak again.

"Hm. Like I said, I should be fine." He had been camping out for days now and had survived without much trouble. Once he was in shelter with a fire, the cold wasn't so bad.
Suddenly realizing that the wind seemed to have stopped, he noticed the wing that was covering them. Brows raised slightly, he didn't show any other sign of being phased. So he WAS right about what he saw earlier. Glancing over at her, it seemed that she was afraid, nervous. Why, did she think he would judge her?
"I don't mind, you know. I showed you my face, you know my appearance. You don't need to hide your true self from me."

Ashen took a step back, she wanted to run. to flee, like she always did. oh no... he is going to hate me...Then ashen heard his words, they sounded sincere! she looked at him throw the corner of her eye still nervous, still wanting to run even from him and pretend this night never happened! "y-you dont think im a...disgusting abomination?" her words where a concoction of fear, confustion, and panic. the last person who saw her wings betrayed her horribly. she was once praised for them but now she wished nothing more then there removal. she actually tryed to remove them a few times, but the pain would make her stop. once she noticed it left scars on her back. she still looked at him through the corner of her eye, getting ready to flee.

"No." His words were firm. "You are what you are. As I am what I am." He turned to look at her, his red eyes glinting in the pale moonlight. "Being who we are does not make us disgusting.
"But in turn, being who we are also does not make us desirable to every person. If someone does not like you for exactly who you are, you are not the one with the problem, they are." This was something he had to come to terms with after his meeting with his kin. Not to mention the few times he'd come face to face with elven patrols. "Being different sets you apart. But it also makes you stronger. And there will always be those who don't understand or can't comprehend why you're different so they hate you for it."
Had his scarf been pulled down it would have shown a reassuring smile. "You never have to worry about that with me."

Ashens heart stopped for a moment, the firmness of his words made her straighten and look at him wide eyed. she was completely still listening to his words. then he moved his scarf and smiled. every last defense she had suddenly shattered. Tears welled up in her eyes as she walked straight to him, head down. she kept going till her forehead lightly tapped his chest, he was still taller then her in her fearl form, not by much. she wrapped her arms around him, she really didnt care she wanted to hug him.
his words where the kindest thing ANYONE had ever given her, her mother even told her to hide her wings. she was always told she was disgusting for being who she was, and now someone she has grow very dangerously close to made her believe otherwise. her voice shaky, and tears now streaming down her face she managed to speak. "that was the kindest, most beautiful thing, anyone...has ever said to me...thank you." Her grip tightened slightly. his was dangerous no one has even been able to break my walls...

He glanced back at her after he finished speaking only to see tears well in her eyes. Oh...oh no, did he say that wrong? As she approached him he stilled, eyes wide, before going completely stiff when she hugged him. Aaaaaa, what, no, wait, stop....His thoughts were short circuiting.
Why was she crying and hugging him at the same time!? Still and unmoving he held his breath as she spoke. At least he hadn't upset her. Emotions....emotions were hard. Damn it, you idiot, what are you doing? He berated himself as he swallowed nervously.
Affection was foreign. Contact with another living person that didn't end in death was unheard of. It sent him into shock. He wanted her to let go....but he also enjoyed the feeling deep down. "ah-" He sputtered for a moment. "y-you're w-welcome..."

hearing his sputtering, she let go but only backed up slightly her head still hung low, she blamed the cider for every damn tear. "i-im sorry, i know you probably didnt like that" she said as she wiped her eyes with her hands in a pawing motion. "i know your...your not one for affection." as she continued to make herself ashen once more she kept muttering sorry every now and agian. that was stupid why did i do that! good thinking, now he will not want to see you because your to emotional! she scolded herself as she tried making herself presentable once more.

"I-It's fine." He took a breath, pulling himself back together. It took a moment but his mind was funny running smoothly. "I'm just not used to it."He stuck his thumbs in his belt, pulling his arms close to his body and shrugging. He didn't want to hurt her feelings, but this was just the way he was. "No harm done."
"It would probably be best to get out of the cold though, before your face freezes." He suspected that tears plus frigid temperatures did not mix.

She nodded in agreement she could feel her face becoming cold even though her cheeks burned. "sorry" she said softly placing her right hand on her left arm. she turned and began to walk agian...stop being silly...he is probably getting cold. as she walked she stretched her wings her wings finally arched above her head as they should, keeping them tense really wasnt comfortable...but she never wanted anyone to see them. her wings shimmered slightly like the feathers had bits of gold laced in them, her feather where a pale purple, much paler then her lavender fur, but the feather dark tipped like an eagle. she continued to walk but motioned him to keep following.

Moving to follow her, the drow took in his companions wings, the dark of night not bothering him at all. They truly were lovely, not bland or dull like the wings you would see on a common falcon. No there was nothing common about Ashen. He smiled slightly, why anyone would berate or harass her about them was beyond him. They were a gift. She had gotten the best of every breed that was in her lineage. A thought suddenly popped into his head. "Can you fly?"

"no" she said quietly looking at him. "i actually wish i could, what i could give to fly. i always stay to the tree tops and roof tops. i love the heights looking around at the sights. there a waterfall that i love going to see." she smiled "maybe i can take you to it? its a long travel though." a smile still on her face, the wind seemed to die down a bit, finally.
