Rook staggered into Town Square, shivering. Her current outfit stood no chance against the dropping temperatures, and it was high time to snag herself some more clothing. Without it, she would continue to experience a prolonged, chilly suffering. Like her own personal hell, without the fire. She would gladly set herself aflame if it would erase her life from existence, but a certain someone wouldn’t let her die until she finished his dirty work. She felt his icy shroud around her, caging her in. His near-whisper blew through her ears. What are you waiting for, child? Go ahead. Look around you.
“Stop, please…” she lolled her head forward into her hands. His voice, only heard by her, was so frigid that it brought only pain.
You’ve been quite the disappointment, lately. The angel materialized in front of her, his cold blue eyes burrowing into her soul.
“Go away, I can’t… I-I can’t stand you anymore...” Rook’s teeth were beginning to chatter, and she could hardly feel the tips of her fingers as they brushed against her dagger. She managed to grasp it in her palm, and launch it half-heartedly at the apparition. Naturally, that was all he was, and to anyone witnessing this event, they would have wondered why some green-haired, weather-confused girl was tossing a weapon into the square. “I can take care of myself, you pompous jerk…” she whined.
Don’t push yourself, now... I need you alive. He chuckled lightly at his own joke, then brushed his hands against the black markings that adorned her face. Within seconds, he vanished. But she knew how he always lingered in her mind, supervising her every action. Rook glanced at her surroundings with shifty eyes. She finally picked up her dagger on the third try, her hands shaking as she slipped it back into her pocket. She wondered if anyone was present. It had been quite a while since she stole from anyone.

Star was walking around debating on leaving town for a while but that thought was crazy. She questioned herself a lot more that she couldn't exactly hear the voice in her head. At times he kept her company the others he was a pain. Hearing a voice that wasn't in her head slightly concerned her.
Grasping the edges of her cloak and pulling it closer to her chest she watched the figure move. Raising a brow she took a few steps closer, the light sound of her boots clicking as she walked. Seeing the shine of the dagger she stopped dead in her tracks but she watched as the green haired female was swinging at... Air? Where had she seen that before.
Taking a few more steps closer she watched. "Watch where you swing that.." Star grumbled before stopping. "What are you uh, doing?" Without a weapon Star feared a bit for her life now but it was better for her and Wildgard if she didn't carry a weapon around.

Rook jumped slightly at the sudden voice. Her eyes shot up to the cloaked figure in front of her, and she instinctively took a step back. So someone did see all of that, and most likely, they heard the seemingly one-sided dialogue. "Oh, uh...well..." Rook cocked her head to the side. Well, look at that. A cloak. A female in a cloak that was potentially her size. Seize it. Warm yourself, fool.
"Hold on a minute!" she spat. Then, remembering that it wasn't just her and the icy voice, she addressed the girl in front of her. "I, ah... that wasn't meant for you." She formed a crooked smile, and walked closer to her, holding out a shaky hand. Perhaps she could still salvage this encounter. "My apologies, what's your name, dear?" She kept her other hand on the pocketed dagger for safe measures.

Starfire smirked slightly. "Starfire." She said nodding her head slightly as she finally freed her hand from her cloak. The cold quickly wrapped around her. She shook the ladies hand lightly before pulling back. "Whats your name?" She questioned before releasing her hand from the others and pulling the cloak back tightly around her.
She watched her posture and the way she moved. She seemed to be cold but almost scared an jumpy at the same time. "So, who are you talking to? You were alone weren't you? Cause as far as I can see there's nobody around."

"Well met, Starfire. Say, that name is familiar to me..." Rook squinted. There was a possibility she had met this girl before. But somehow, she seemed different. Maybe it was just her head playing tricks on her, her mind getting confused and her memories crossing paths. Rook's hand twitched, wanting to lunge forward, rip the cloak away and hold it to her own frigid body to sap up any warmth. But she tried her best to override her greed with her morality, or whatever was left of it. She wasn't sure she could pull off a theft in the state she was in, anyway. "My name is Rook." She shook Starfire's hand firmly.
Introduce us.
"I'm here alone, yes. I am definitely physically alone at the time being, err, aside from your presence..." she prattled. You are never alone. She cleared her throat. "Oh really? Was I saying something earlier? Haha, silly me, perhaps I'm so cold that I'm delirious!" Rook felt her nervous sweat chill her further. She wasn't sure if she could talk her way out of this one, this girl was quite attentive.

"Really?" She squinted at Rook. "You don't have to lie to me." A slight giggle escaped her lips. Rook got awkward and nervous quickly, Star knew she triggered something. "Something the matter? You seem nervous." Her smirk grew wider and she began to pace around Rook.
"Honestly. I heard everything. I saw you try and stab air."

Rook clenched her teeth. She had been right, unfortunately. Look at her, pacing around you. This is predator and prey. You know this game. "Shut...up...it might not be...stop." she muttered under her breath. Her trembling wasn't just from the cold now, it was from fear. Sure, the bastard angel made her feel caged at all times. But this was different, and it was a feeling she didn't like. But was Starfire really dangerous? Or did she just revel in psychological games? If she was going to take action, she better do it quickly. She left her sword elsewhere, so she supposed talking was the best answer.
Rook let out a bout of small laughter to quell her nerves. "You don't want to know the half of it. Do you realize the reactions I get from people when I tell them I converse with an angel?" She shivered, but held a quirky smile. "I'm a pawn. But I'm not to be underestimated," she claimed arrogantly. This could have been over a lot sooner. Rook growled a little as she answered the voice in her head. "Quiet." She followed Starfire carefully with her eyes. "Why does all this concern you, hmm? Perhaps it's just easier for me to reply aloud, as I can lose myself in my own head." She never let go of her dagger.

Starfire stopped in her tracks. "Let me guess. They looked at you, gave you a confused look and once you tried to prove that they were there or that they were "taking over" they said that you were insane? Thats happened to me before." She started walking again. "Trust me. I know."
"It just concerns me." Her smirk slightly faded as she remembered the time that she had told a friend who had taken her in had kicked her out the moment she tried to warn her about... Him. "Talking to yourself? Telling yourself to shut up or quiet? Doesn't sound like you're thinking to yourself more less a reply."

Rook loosened up a little. "Oh? So you've had similar experiences?" She walked over and put her hand on Starfires shoulder. She gave off a comforting warmth. "He won't leave me alone, I swear he won't until I'm dead but that won't be for a long, long time..."
Don't get too comfortable.
"How do you deal with your voice? Or, voices... I don't know what you have going on. I can only ignore mine for so long." Rook scanned their surroundings quickly, and leaned in closer. "You could say I'm cursed, I suppose. But that's a bit of a long story, and I'm freezing, here..." She eyed up Starfire's cloak once again, and felt the material. It was nice and heavy, it would be plenty warm. Rook smiled.
Take it.

Lightly pushing the hand off her shoulder she looked at Rook. "I don't control him. More less, he controls me." She stated in a low whisper. "He's influenced me into doing things. He's taken over my mind and forced me to do things i've never wished to start.. He's sorta quited down for the longest time. Its odd." Letting out a loud sigh she noticed that Rook had began looking cold, not that she hadn't from the start.
"Do you wanna go to the Tavern? Or the Church?" She questioned feeling the cold breeze quicken. Everywhere in Wildgard seemed to be starting to freeze.

As her hand was pushed away, Rook felt colder than ever. "I... I see. We have more in common than I'd first thought." She couldn't bring herself to steal from this girl. She wasn't dumb, and she had finally found someone who had similar experiences. She never thought that would happen. Perhaps she could become a friend, even, if she was careful enough.
"My voice has made me a thief, in essence. I can't control my greed, sometimes. The tavern might be too tempting... but it's warm, and has food and drink..." Rook nearly salivated at the thought. How long had it been since she ate? She imagined all the possessions she could lay eyes on there. Perhaps she could cozy up to someone of great wealth. It wouldn't be the first time she got her way using shady tactics.
ENTER THE CHURCH, ROOK.
Something strange, happened, then. She felt the icy shroud about her once again, and her eyes grew wide for a moment. Rook then lost the ability to voice her own words. They froze in her throat. Instead, what flowed out of her mouth was a graceful sentence. "The church sounds like a lovely place. Let's go there, please." Her facial muscles moved of their own accord, and placed a soft, non-consensual smile on her lips.

Star returned the smile before she thought about maybe being nice, that new person she wanted to be. Before she started walking again Star took off her cloak and wrapped it around Rook. "You looked cold." Star began to walk towards the church. "If we go there, we need to stay quiet."
Star wasn't sure that the church was the safest place to go but it was the only real place she knew that she herself was welcomed. A glimer of hope that Thistle wasn't there, nor Vykor. Nabbi was alright, she knew Nabbi wouldn't mind as much as the others. "Have you ever killed someone because of him?" Star questioned as a wave of guilt washed over her. The blood that stained her clothes after that night... She wished she could have stopped him but knew that was never going to be possible.

Just like that, Rook was being led to the church, and not the tavern. She would have murmured a curse under her breath but the angel was holding her mouth shut in a smile. He allowed her a mere "thank you" for the cloak, but other than that, she was kept silent. At least she could nod her head. She sighed inwardly at the warmth of the cloak. The heat made up for their destination. When Starfire asked her if she had killed anyone, she surprisingly kept her composure. Though she couldn't say if it was completely her own doing or not. Oh, have you ever.
"Yes, actually. I've killed multiple people, all for my own gain." She said nonchalantly. It was a fact, this is how she grew to operate. "I didn't always have to, though. But as my standards grew higher, and my greed intensified..." she reflected back on her victims. "I became less crafty, and more bloodthirsty, I suppose." Nearly everything she owned had been stolen, in one way or another. Whether she killed to secure her possession of the item, or tricked those that were wealthy and lusty, it was her way of life. All thanks to that rotten angel. Do remember, that it was you who stole from me first.
Rook didn't answer the voice in her head as she strode alongside Starfire to the church.

Coming close to the th church Star began to shiver. The cold air wrapping around her like a blanket. She held her arms close to her body trying to keep some amount of heat. "Has He ever made you kill anyone though?" She questioned giving a curious look. He honestly hadn't met anyone who had the same problem as her before... Ever. But she almost feared that the voice in her head was gone. She hated it yes but she missed it all at the same time.
Walking to the front doors Star opened one and held it for Rook. There were no tables but the room was lit up. A bed and a desk in the back corner which belonged to Thistle and a back room full of his stuff which she wasn't allowed to go in. But of Star already had. Feeling the bit of warmth she relaxed her arms a bit. "Welcome. Don't touch anything though... This will just be a place to warm up. Nothing here exactly belongs to me. We can sit on the floor in the middle of the room and i'll grab some food that is mine if you would like?"

Rook pondered that notion as she walked. Was it really the angel that made her kill? Or was she in denial of the monster she'd become? Was it really all his doing? The thoughts plagued her brain. "I don't know if he made me kill. I really don't know if I could say it's all his fault. All I do know, is that the blood that covered my hands..." her eyes briefly closed. "...felt so pleasantly warm."
Sinner. This is what you get.
Rook's mouth trembled slightly and she gasped. The angel slowly backed off her shoulders, but the lifted weight was not a comfort. As she approached the church, a foreboding feeling squirmed its way into her gut, and carved into her chest. It suddenly occurred to her, that not once had she stepped foot in a church while accompanied by the angel. Churches. Angels. Supposed holy ground. One way trip one way trip one way trip one way trip never return one way trip-
His whispers wouldn't stop, quiet yet deafening, with the odd phrase rising up above them. You had your chance. "Oh, dear..." she quivered. You blew it. Her breath hitched in her throat. You took your position for granted. Her heart palpitated. You've always been disposable, child. Her legs moved of their own accord, as she followed Starfire into the light of the church. All this time, she thought she would welcome death... but her intuition told her that what awaited her wasn't eternal peace, or rest. She laughed grimly as she sank to her knees in the center of the church. "Don't worry, I won't touch anything." Soothing hot tears rolled down her face, and she made no effort to stop them. "Food? Oh, no, I couldn't, Star. Save it for yourself," she sniffled. You won't need it. At least the church brought some heat.
"But thank you for the offer. Thank you for showing me kindness, it was a pleasant turn of events in these dreary months. I'm glad we met." She removed Starfire's cloak, and held it out to her. At least that was one thing she could return. As her tears flowed over her cheeks, they passed over her facial markings, and extended them like ink. They then inched down her neck to her torso, as if following a predetermined path, coming to a stop at her exposed stomach and forming a black circle in the middle of it. Your time is up, the voice hissed, and reverberated off the walls. At this time, Rook wondered: was he audible for once? She searched Star's eyes for a reaction.
