As she listened to her friend's story, the healer's heart underwent several changes of emotion. A sense of happy satisfaction at the beginning of the story - of course it had been Faljere who had helped her see a woman like that! -; a disconnected upset when she heard of the assault; warmth and happiness of behalf of Sarea when she spoke of the years they spent travelling, the years they spent married. The human girl felt her heart drop to her stomach, however, when she learned of Jennis' fall, and the circumstances afterwards. A pity-filled "Oh..." escaped her lips then.
The flowers! That was right! She remembered the bard had commissioned an arrangement, specifically, in remembrance of a loved one. True to her own nature, Idina had made sure at least one flower still had happy meaning: that had been the red chrysanthemum, in a simple reminder of "I love you." She hadn't thought such a flower could be as appropriate as that, as a girl remembering her dead wife!
A moment of reflective silence passed between the two girls. "I am honoured you trusted me to make such a token for you," the healer said quietly. Still curious, however, she added: "Is that ring also a memento of her? Forgive my words if that is too difficult a subject."

Sarea shook her head and smiled softly. It's not that she didn't want to smile, but even discussing this topic made her grin seem full of sorrow.
"It's not in memorium of her, but it certainly feels that way." She explained, a tear forming in her eye. She shook her head and smiled again, this time beaming brightly. "But never mind that! There's more merrymaking to be done! Would you care for another tune? This one for you, my old friend?"
She took a final swig of wine and stood up, draping her arm around her friend's shoulder. The elf bard looked out at the audience and raised her violin. "How about it? Another?"

Idina had been about to say something positive about the ring - something about how pretty it was, of how sweet it was of the elf bard to keep it - when her friend grinned joyously of her own accord. Her whole face was lit up, and after hearing her suggestion, the human smiled and laughed in return.
"Excellent," she declared. "I would love to hear another!" She jumped a bit when Sarea put her arm around her shoulders, but she cheered with the other patrons of the tavern soon after. They all wanted to hear her lovely music once again - and this time, Idina decided, finishing her tea quickly, that she would dance with the rest of them this time!

Sarea nodded and stepped up to the front of the tavern, readying her violin. She gave a quick wink behind her to Idina and mouthed 'This is for you, my friend!' as she began with a string of beautifully agile notes like a set of rapids. The faster they became, the higher they did too until finally, with almost little effort, played a grouping of her highest yet most beautiful notes, and then immediately descended again until reaching her lowest notes to play the same melody.
After a while, it had begun to sound like a quartet, the notes were so fast and tight, and the music had her feeling very free, like a cloud floating in the sky. THat was what music was always supposed to feel like for her. In fact, those were the exact words her mentor told her to say. The bard's code.
Let not music be a burden. Let not music be a trophy. Let not music be an enemy. Let music be freedom.
She repeated the words in her head as she continued, seeing all the patrons merrily swinging about in their usual drunken manner. It was quite a sight to see, so many people feeling freed by music. Free to dance and not feel foolish, and free to laugh and smile. It truly was beautiful.
Truly.
